Ok for those out there doing Boy Scout events - here is some info for you. BSA is ahead of the curve compared to Girl Scouts.

They actually have an Eagle Scout album! I just saw it on the web site

www.scoutstuff.org

Link through to the eagle items. And when I called the local council shop to place an order for some other things I asked about it. Sounds pretty decent. The lady also mentioned they were carrying some official items and more and more of the "standard" stickers, etc are being made acid and lignin free. I also found a couple of great prints/posters in sizes that will work in a 12 x 12 book. There are some poems on them that are pretty cool.

I like this one:

Youth
I want to see you game boys.
I want to see you brave and manly,
and I also want to see you gentle and tender.

Be practical as well as generous in your ideals.
Keep your eyes on the stars and
keep your feet on the ground.

Courage, hard work, self-mastery, and intelligent
effort are all essential to a successful life.

Character in the long run is the decisive factor in
the life of an individual and of nations alike.

—Theodore Roosevelt

And since it isn't BSA exclusive thought I would pass it on.

Have fun! I just have to find out if DS wants me to put all of the award stuff in his regular book or make a separate one for him. Oh yea! He passed his Board of Review Sunday night and the troop leadership set the date for his Court of Honor last night!

Some of that looked interesting by the descriptions but I couldn't get the photos to come through. Bummmer.

Thanks for this wonderful site! And congratulations on your son's award!!! It is a very proud day!

My DS earned his Eagle Award in 2001 but since I am new to scrapping, the photos are just in an album,,,,,I can't wait to order this!!!
I just ordered scout paper the other day in anticipation of doing a book of this wonderful event - so this album will be great!!!
BTW - I was able to see the pictures....I have cable internet.

About a year ago I found an e*** store that I use quite a bit for my Scouting scrapping.

She stocks a lot of Scout (boy and girl) items not easily found locally.
She will even look for items if you have a request. Great customer service and combines shipping of several different items.
Thanks...cool stuff!

One thing on the book - when I went to place my order for all the rest of the stuff I needed to get ordered right away I found out you can't yet actually order on line. When you get to that point the site let's you print out your order as a shopping list and then gives you a list of the nearest outlets. I did call our's and the package shipped out the same day I called.

I haven't ordered the book yet - DS isn't sure if he wants to keep it all together or separate it. Right now the pages of his project are in his regular Scout book. I actually have 3 of those at this time - 1 for Cub Scouts, 1 for Boy Scouts, and 1 of his trip to Philmont.

I think last night it finally hit him that he has made it as I was asking him questions about who he wants to invite, does he want his full middle name or just initial on the invites, etc. Guess the logistics made it "real".

Thanks for the congrats - we're pretty excited as it has been a long road!

Grayfal -

Below is a poem that was on one of the prints I had planned to order to include in the pages I scrapped on the Eagle award. Unfortunately that print is no longer available. But the poem is too cool not to use.

This Uniformed Little Boy
It seems like only yesterday, his eyes were lit with joy,
As we watched with admiration, this uniformed little boy.
Campouts, picnics, pinewood cars, the years slipped quickly by,
The colors changed from blue to green, in the twinkling of an eye.

Soon came ranks of Tenderfoot, Second, First, and Star,
Each leading toward that final quest, once visioned from afar.
And then the rank of Life, and as life can often do,
The goal so close within his grasp, was dimming from his view.
Yet from within he found the strength to reach that final quest,
Remembering words from years gone by: I WILL DO MY BEST.

It seems like only yesterday, his eyes were lit with joy,
As we watched with admiration, this uniformed little boy.
Now with an eagle upon his chest, he soars, where once he ran,
No longer that uniformed little boy: our Son...an Eagle...a Man.

I just tripped across a site that has some scouting things for scrapping....thought I'd share.

That's the index page. Just scroll down the list on the left side & choose "Scouts".

The whole Eagle Board of Review and Court of Honor was definitely one of my son's top experiences in his young life!

As an Assistant Scoutmaster, now Venture Advisor I am so proud when one of our Scouts decides to get serious and work for his Eagle. And as the Mom of one who started out very slowly and wasn't sure at first that he wanted Eagle I know how proud parents feel when they do earn it! In fact, my husband was almost in tears when he gave the "Parent's Speech" at the CoH.

Besides buying a gift for the Eagle himself, I present each Eagle Mom with a plastic case full of Eagle-themed scrapbooking items (diecuts, Scout licensed paper, photos I have taken of their son camping and stickers etc.).

Also, I suggest going to Two Peas in a Bucket and searching their Peanut Gallery for Scout scrapbook page ideas. I found lots of examples there.

Again, congratulations Deb and enjoy this wonderful time! :goodvibes

Thanks Kathy, I certainly am having fun with it. DH was teasing me Monday before he headed off to the meeting, what was I planning a wedding? Well no, but I've attended enough of these to know there are plenty of details to be seen to. I've been diligently making sure his Scout books are up to date since he finished his project so I wouldn't be scrambling with those at the last minute - our Moms that scrap put them out for people to see at the CofH. Of course there are still plenty of other things to get in order, he needs to select folks, well you know how it goes. And I think that is a really cool idea to give to the moms of your troop's Eagles.

Another place that has Boy Scout related scrapbooking supplies is Oriental Trading . They have some paper and stickers. But no Girl Scout stuff. I hope this helps.
