I'm working on pages for my son's eagle scout book and I've run out of ideas and I'm just more than half-way done. Would anyone be willing to share their ideas? I really need to get this done, as he's ready to begin his project and I've still got a bunch of pages to do. This is a surprise for him when he receives his Eagle and I'm trying to get pages done while he is away during the week working at camp. I've only got three weeks until he comes home and I really need to have this done before then so I can pack up all the evidence.

Any of you creative folks been there and done that and willing to share? :worship::worship::worship:

Here is what I did:

I had a page for each year from Tiger Cubs on up.
Pages for camp and Pinewood Derbys, all the cub events.

Then I showed his Arrow of Light and crossover to boy scouts.

All rank advancements had a page, scrapped all the merit badge cards.
Summer Camp, Court of Honors, camp outs, canoe trips, cope, etc.

I used a lot of the It Takes Two Paper Line and the K & Co line.
These led to ideas for many of the pages.

I used as the first page the quote of "this uniformed little boy"
you can find the wording on the BSA site, it will make for many tears
from other scout moms.

Everyone enjoyed seeing his progression through scouts and how he had grown both physically and mentally.

Congrats on your eagle scout, I hope to have another one if a few more years.

Melanie

PS... Don't forget to send for letters of congratulations from the presidents,
senators, actors, ect. I have a whole seperate scrapbook of those.

Melanie,
Thanks for the tips. I sure could use any more advice you're willing to offer. The Takes Two line is cute and I will definitely be ordering some of the papers to help complete my sets.

Now....just a moment to vent. I've just spent the last two hours on the internet searching for ideas for scouting/camping/outdoors and I have come up with almost nothing. HOW CAN THAT BE POSSIBLE? I mean, a whole world of info at your fingertips and I come up with nothing? I search and search with keywords and I keep coming up with the same places. If I see the same K & CO scrapbook items again I'm going to scream! Are there only three people in the world who are scrapping with scout items? I can use some camping stuff, but I can only use so many tents and trees. Anyone here know what I mean? AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel better, now back to your regularly scheduled programming :)
Danielle

Hmmm, DIL does that for the grandkids....I think a lot of scouting moms are just so busy, that putting it on the internet is the last thing they have time for!!!

It actually is very frustrating, a few years ago when I did my pages there was less. Creative memories had a sticker pack but I think it is discontinued.
Stampin Up had a scout set, also retired.

I started using things like, twine and rafia for the outdoor events,
also brads, eyelets, and such in metal and neutral colors.
Then used neutral cardstock. I found paper with water, rocks, etc.

Also found that if it had a theme, I went with it.
One campout was at a historic fort, so I used a rustic wood paper.

Just wait after the eagle ceremony you will get tired of red, white and blue.

Check out two peas in a bucket, there were some ideas there.

Some of the Karen Foster paper also can be used in outdoor settings.

Good luck,
Melanie

do you do digi at all? If you do Raspberry Road designs has a really great heritage boy scout kit. its just gorgeous :O)

I'm really scared to get into digi scrapping. I have so much invested in the traditional scrapping that I feel bad not using it. Plus, I'm not sure how to mix the traditional and digital since I already have the book started. I just looked at the the Raspberry Road and it is beautiful, but I'm not sure the two medias would work together. What do you think?

do you have a cricut - because they have a camping cartridge and some flor-de-li(how ever you spell it) stuff that i have used for my son's cubscout pages.
if you need some stuff cut - i might be able to help you out
Jennifer

I have a Cricut, but I have very few cartridges and buying new ones is not in the budget right now. I have the cheap Wal-mart camping cartridge, is that the one you're talking about? I thought there was another bigger cartridge, but I don't know what it's called. Which cart do you have?

I ran into the same problem as you when I was working on my son's cub scout album. What I ended up doing is using the papers, etc., available from the Scout store, then mostly did borders, etc., but not fancy pages. By that time I was done trying to be too creative, so this really worked. The album has a nice consistency to it.

I know that Rachelle (Chelle's Creations) over at ScrapMatters dot com is working on a boy scout kit for digi, and she has alrealy released a girl scout kit (cookies, too!). I do both paper & digi, and I do mix the pages up. I just slide the printed pages into the album. I thought the two different mediums would bother me, but it doesn't. I figured that a completed page was a completed page, whether it was digi or paper.

Good luck!

Don't know if you know about this yet, but K&Company has JUST come out with a new line of Boy Scout stuff. There was their original line that they've had for quite a while now, but now there are a whoooole bunch of new things. I saw them at our JoAnn Etc. the other day and it's awesome. They come in little mini-packs for each stage of cub scouts, boy scouts, eagle, and other stuff like camp and pinewood derby/raingutter regatta/whatever that other one was called that they always did. There's also a bunch of new paper and other stuff. I was tempted to get part of it for the books I'm doing for my brothers (since it's SO nice), but I already have a ton of the stuff from the other series so I don't need to spend more.

For some reason I can't find it online -- not even on K&Company's site. Which is pretty weird. But maybe they just haven't updated it recently? If you have a JoAnn or a JoAnn Etc. you may want to check it out to see if they've gotten it in yet.
Hope that helps.

yes the mini - camping cart. is the one i have - it has a fire on it - a tent - and some other things you might be able to use.
I have A LOT of the carts. i am trying to think of some other things that are on the carts that you might use.
the animal kingdom cart has a tiger, a bear, a wolf, (if you are doing the stages)
I have bought paper at michaels - they have the scout paper there and i use a coupon. i have also bought stuff at the scout store. Maybe just stick with the scout colors.
if you find something that you need cut from the cricut let me know
Jennifer

I wondered about about the K&CO stuff. I was at Michael's on Saturday and they had discontinued everything from the scout/military line. No one seemed to have any idea what was going on with it. I sure hope they are getting the new stuff in. Could use a bit more variety. This book has been a real struggle, but nothing like the eagle projects. Feel like I'll be an eagle before this is done. :goodvibes

Have you tried the official Scout store, scoutstuff.org? They have scrapbook papers and stickers that are a good jumping off point. I started scrapbooking with Cub Scout stuff and so far have two scrapbooks and he's only a Web II. Congratuations on your Eagle. Some other things I have thrown into my books, patches from Events, maps of camps, anything that is a camping/fishing/tree theme seems to fit in Scouts. You might even try something from an old manual. Not his accomplishments record but one that no one is using.

Thanks for the ideas, they're great. Didn't think about maps and parts of old books. You've given me inspiration.
Wow, two books. Mine is only getting one book to cover tigers to eagle. I have three boys and this is the first of the three. Don't think I can produce more than one book for each.
And don't congratulate us yet.....we're not finished with the never-ending eagle project! It goes on and on and on. Things have been put on hold now because he's working for the summer at camp. I'll be very grateful when it's all finished. By that time it should be time to start all over with our second son. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!
