Is it just me or is there a population overgrowth of boys lately? Or are the stores just not producing as much for boys anymore?

I have had this problem for at least a year- ever since my son hit size 8. When he was in size 4-7, I had NO problem finding cheap clothes for him. But last year, in size 8, I was paying full price for his clothes. I could not find him anything decent on the clearance racks.

Now, he is in 10/12, same problem! I checked out the Old Navy sale last week with the 50% off clearance and nothing. There was a TON of stuff for me, my daughters, and my DH, but we don't need clothes..you can always find good deals on our clothes! He is pretty much outgrown Gymboree (their largest size is 10, and he really needs a 10/12) and I don't have a TCP local. I checked out Penneys, and if my daughters needed clothes I could have hit the motherlode with the BOGO clearance sale they have going on. But boys? Nada. I few picked over clearance racks with a bunch of 4, 5s and then 14 and 18. Ugh..yuck.

So again, I am paying full price for his clothes at Target. Ugh! I know Target's prices aren't THAT bad, but when I can get my 4 and 8 year old girls pants for under $10, and tops for under $8, I hate to spend $15 on a pair of pants and $15 on a top for my son! I hate paying retail. :scared:

So, boy mamas, oh, and dads, too: Are you having a hard time finding cheap boy clothes? WHERE do you find them?

Try hunting for HUSKY. I have a pair of jeans in the car Belk wouldn't take back. Same size as the pair from Walmart, but he can't even button the pricey pair.

Even worse his little brother is so skinny even SLIMS fall off. I couldn't catch a break & use hand-me-downs. Nooo, I get one thick & one thin! :rotfl:

I usually don't go to JC Penny's...but....I hit a terrific sale in the big boys department. 75% off winter clothing...jeans..sweaters..long slleve shirts..jackets, etc. (I went 5 days ago.)

Though I'm not usually a Gap shopper - too expensive for me - but this time of year, and into late Feb the childrens Gap has AMAZING deals!!! (Or at least the one near me does...) I just got 3 prs of pants in there this week for about $5.00/pr. You have to check back often - but when they mark down they do it big-time! Also, the Macys near me was having extra 40% off of there 75% off pants this week. (I do snag it when I see it - it _IS_ harder to find the bigger stuff....) Good luck!!

My son wears size 8 pants and 10/12 shirts...i buy when i see - i was at JCPenny a week or two ago and they had a huge sale 75% off - so i bought summer t-shirts and winter shirts...i usually shop the end of the season for the next year and buy a size up - hit JC penny in August for the next summer! Gap also has great sales - today Target had a bunch of stuff for 50% off.. i got turtle necks last week at Target for 1.50!! also check Kohls.

good luck

TJMaxx, if you have one in the area is great. They have a wide variety of brand-name and non-brand name clothing. I just left there, and, I bought an Obermeyer ski coat (regularly $150- for $25), a thick winter with fleece lining Spiderman coat (regularly $60- for $13), a Nike fleece fall jacket (reg. $50 for $8.50). I also saw Timberland, Sean John, Calvin Klein, Spyder coats for $15-$25. There were Timberland vests for $10, Calvin Klein jeans for $15, and, rows and rows of boys clothing drastically reduced. There is a great selection, and, incredible prices.

I have had the same issues. Sadly right now w/ the good deal I am broke. Go figure. I work at Kohls and it seems like 80% of the floor in girls and babies is clearance but the sizes I need for my boys, nothing. All too big or just not that marked down.

I usually buy my son's clothes either at "Kid to Kid", "Once Upon a Child", "TJMAxx" or on the occasion I can find a great sale at Macy's or Penneys.

I know what you mean about it being difficult to find cheap boys clothes. Have you tried Walmart online or even craigslist? I usually find pretty cheap clothes that are in new/almost new condition there.

Good luck!

Try finding boys winter boots. Kohls has some good sales but they NEVER have boys boots. If you are lucky and find one or two pair, they have very limited sizes. Then I look over at the girls selection of 25+ styles and I get a little

I also have one son with wide feet. If you can find wide shoes they cost $50-he is five, I'm not spending that much on shoes for a five yr old who will wear them a year or less.

Sorry for the rant but I just wanted to let OP know that we all have a hard time finding things for our boys.

I've started to note some good sales like: Sears-they have add'l 50% off clearance, should be soon. Old Navy-must go to the $7 jean sale and buy all that you can. Check Ebay in winter and rummage sales in summer. I always check clearance racks and try to plan waaaay ahead.

I just wish I could find boys clothes.
The selection they offer for regular price is completely ridiculous and to top it off I need 2 of something. I hate walking into stores and seeing 5 times the selection for little girls honestly who do they think buys clothes for boys, the same person that buys clothes for girls "MOM"

I have good luck at the Children's Place online sales. One of my boy's needs husky size and I can call the local store and tell them I need to order a husky size online because they don't carry them in the store- they always give me a free shipping code that works for the entire order.

Oh I remember that size. Right now my oldest is 14 and in mens. My younger sons are still in the 4-7 size thankfully.
I remember being in a store and asking the clerk where the 8-16 boy section was and he replied"We don't carry that size for boys"
It was Bloomingdales! A department store!

The only good slims I ever found were at the Gap. And then when my slim went into husky at that mark I bought them from LandsEnd. They seemed to fit him well.
Deals -well I just waited for sales.
Ugh I am not looking forward to that.

I buy mine at OUAC whenever possible, but pickings are slim for that age because that is when they are the roughest on clothes. Resale can't use much of what is brought in b/c it's too beaten up.

I find that I have the best luck retail at Penneys, Old Navy clearances, and an occasional find at K-Mart (anyone remember K-mart?, LOL). Another really good source for the lower end of that range, if you have one nearby, is an Oshkosh outlet.

I hear you! My son is a size 8 pants and 10/12 top. He's growing so fast and I've been having a hard time finding good deals in these sizes..

I had trouble once my DS hit that size, too, especially buying slims. I have had good luck with Gap (adjustable waist) and ebay.

I get great deals at a Kids Nautica Outlet, the clothes can be mix and matched.

I got some really cheap stuff on clearance at Target this week. Shirts for $1 and change, zip up sweathshirts for $3 and change...

My boys are on the skinny side, especially my oldest, and even the adjustable wasted pants are still too big most places, it's frustrating. I end up buying from Lands End and am really happy with their slim adjustable waste pants and jeans.

I have a son who is in the same sizes. I don't have issues with finding him deals down here. If you have a Ross's Dress for Less, that is awesome! Jeans for $10! Also try Burkes Outlet if they are in your area. Thrift stores are the BEST option!!!

I have one who is on the pudgy side and one on the skinny side too! The slim guy gets jeans from Old Navy with the elastic inside. Try signing up for stores email reminders/ads. I frequently get coupons included, so that helps some.

My wider son is now shopping in the men's department. Plus he's so darn busy now that we ended up paying - ouch! $30 a pair for Carhartt jeans at a local store. There is simply no time in the foreseeable future to spend a day shopping at the mall. (An hour a way) I'm hoping that they last because he just ripped through two pairs of Aeropostle jeans.

Do you have any outlets nearby? Osh Kosh makes pretty good clothes up through boys sizes. There's one at our local outlet center which also has a coupon program where they send out 10% or so coupons good for many stores. I signed up at the outlet mall office.

I have the same problem. My son has outgrown his size 8 pants. It is really hard to find a deal on the 10's. For now He is still wearing the too short 8's. We have had a few comments, but I am too cheap to pay full price for anything, so I will wait for a deal. I stopped at the local resale shop yesterday, and they had nothing. I'm going to try a couple more today. The frustrating thing is I just bought those 8's in September!

We found good boots for both boys at MC Sports on clearance.

I do get really annoyed that stores have a huge variety for girls, but nothing for boys. I loved the osh kosh outlet when my kids were little. They had really cute boy stuff. One of our local department stores has about 3 racks of boys size 8-16. Those racks are all picked over with almost nothing on them. :confused3 I walked past them 3 times before I actually found the right section.
