We where to check-in tomorrow at OKW. Something came up today and we had to cancel. There goes 436 points into the 60 day penalty box. Use year is March.

Any ideas as to when is a good time to try to book for and where?

Can book only 60 days out from check-out date.

ouch...sorry. we had to leave once in the middle of a vacation. I know how you feel.

After mid August into early October is probably a good time to use these H points

thanks

We had to do the same thing with a trip in February. The Disney Collection points we were able to rebook for August (AKL concierge). The OKW points we are hoping to rebook for next January.

In the past we have booked in the Fall with no trouble 60 days out. January and early February should be no problem as well.

Probably mid-August to mid-November, and then January and the first week of February will have the most availability, and are very nice times to go. Also, the first two weeks of December are nice, not crowded, and the Christmas decorations are up.

Probably OKW will have the most availability.

Remember, you can always rent or sell your points as well, if none of those times work for you.

We just booked rooms at OKW and at BCV for mid June less than 60 days out. No problems. Got the exact room types we wanted for the dates we wanted.

I booked last week 6 nights in a 1 bedroom VWL, for end of August, no waitlist, very easy.

You can also book a night or two whenever you want to go, and get on a waitlist for the rest of the nights. That's what I did for June 6-11, and they called me yesterday to let me know that I got it. I nearly cancelled out, but I forgot about it, figuring that I could go in the fall instead, and Bam! I suddenly had a full ressie for June.

I'm not sure, but I *think* Holding Account points can be transferred, as long as they were not banked or borrowed to begin with. So, it's possible that you could sell your points for transfer on the rent/trade board. Since they are holding account points, you probably wouldn't get the going rate for regular points, though.

If the cancellation was due to something very serious (illness, for example), Disney might be flexible. I've heard of that happening before.
