Just got back from the 6/8 Magic 7 day. It rained every single day of the entire trip! I couldn't believe it.....even disney can't control the weather. It was still a great trip, though.

Amy I was watching the weather and thinking about every cruising...what a bummer...but I am glad you still enjoyed yourself.

Gosh, sorry to hear about the poor weather. That's such a bummer. Glad to hear you still enjoyed the trip.

Weather/climate was the first thing I checked when we were planning our trip. I know Caribbean have very distinct rainy (and hurricane) season. From what I gathered, the rain starts around May thru Oct., and hurricane from June thru Oct. We were quite lucky in our first Magic(al) cruise. We had 4 days of cloudless skies, even though it was in the middle of the rain & hurricane season. We didn't know any better then. We just booked and went.

Our 2nd trip was picked during their dry season. However, the water temperature in Jan/Feb was a bit cold for our kids. So, this time around, we tried to pick a date just before the rainy season. Unfortunately, Easter is late next year, so for a Western cruise, we had to settle for 5/10/03. Hopefully, we'll just miss the rain...

Our last cruise in July 2000, was a complete wash out too!!!!. We are cruising again on July 14 and are hoping for lots of sunshine!!!!

This is probably a silly question.... did you find enough to do considering all of your activities became indoor activities? How were your excursions? Did any get cancelled because of weather? Did you bother getting off the ship at all? What did you do at Castaway Cay?

Thanks... Paul

Many of the excursions were canceled, but ours were not. We went on a snorkeling trip in the Caymans....I feared for my life. It was a small boat and the waves were very high and rough, rocking the boat violently from side to sie. We were determined to get into the water to see the stingrays. As it is very shallow at stingray city, we were able to see and enjoy them. We were then taken to other snorkeling sites, but the snorkeling was very poor due to no sunlight and the water being churned up so.

In Cozumel, we went to chankanaab. Same story. Rain, high waves, poor visibility.

As for the ship, we kept busy. Our children enjoyed the Clubs very much and were always happy to go there. My husband and I are avid readers, so we would go to deck 4 and lounge under the awning and read.

We were on the same cruise and yes we did manage to get into Castaway Cay, but docked late due to the rough water. For awhile it almost looked like Castaway Cay was going to be a bust, which would have been the ultimate let down after having such poor weather prior to our final day. A bit of Disney luck did shine on us and they managed to dock under cloudy skies. The sun started to come out in the afternoon and took my DW and I by surprise since we didn't have the same level of sunscreen as we normally would have used. Still managed to get a bit burned even though the sun didn't come out until later.

The strangest thing about the rain is the skies would be fine until we got ready to disembark, and then the skies let loose! Castaway Cay was the only port exception (it did that before we docked ;).

The second day at sea was the only day that we had clear blue skies during most of the day (I at least had some good pictures from that day!). We still had a good time in spite of the weather, but it did make the excursions a bit more challenging. DCL at least offered to refund the excursion at Cozumel (Fury Catermeran). My two sons and I went ahead but my DW decided to stay back and shop some more. Even that was a challenge since the sidewalks were very narrow and crossing the streets often meant doing so in 2-3 inches or better of rushing water (with God knows what in the water)
