Hey Family!

Goin with my meat eating children to Disney to celebrate my 40th! Gasp!
Which steakhouse do we go to?

Between the two?
Firstly, congratulations on your 40th!

My traveling kiddos loved eating at Yachtsman’s. They loved the bread as they waited for the next course. The steaks were cooked they way all wanted them and there was lots of chocolate for dessert.

I have no impressions of Bourbon Steak or any of M.Mina’s other eateries
as I’ve never been but I must say I’m impressed with how the interior was turned around. Looks much more modern.

Have fun choosing.

First vlogs are just showing up for Bourbon. Check out Wright Down Main Street for opening day.

I haven't tried it yet (will in September) but a friend that loved Shula's ate there and loved it. (She was ready to hate it because she loved Shula's). Said food is great - mostly the same staff as Shula's.

One thing about Bourbon Steak is a dress code - no shorts , etc. in dining room - so that may make it feel "special" VS Yachtsman which doesn't have a dress code. You can also reserve on Open Table - and cancel close to time without penalty.

The bolded is not true. Open table only lists Business casual. Opening day vlogs already show people with shorts on. Screen shot from Wright Down Main Street note the man in the background from the table behind her. Plus, the vlogger herself is in a standard tee shirt, nothing special or dressy.

And man seated behind her later also has shorts on.

I like both - I haven't been to the Bourbon in Disney, but we have one about 10 miles from my house and have eaten there several times. Excellent meats, good sides, good sauces, all around a nice high-end steakhouse experience.

Same goes for Yachtsman - have had some excellent meals there including a few 'splurges' with family and friends where we went nuts with appetizers, sides, sauces, and wines and ran up some hefty bills there too. Neither is cheap, but both use very good cuts of meat and high quality.

On dress code, the Disney Bourbon will be as loose as most other Signature restaurants - they don't forbid shorts - they essentially want an attempt at not looking completely slovenly - shorts are fine, but not bathing suits, gym shorts, etc. sweaty stretched or ripped T-shirts may be looked badly on, and graphic t-Shirts with profane messages might be turned away. ANyone with golf, dress, khaki, or bermuda shorts and a crisp polo or button down shirt would fit right in just fine. Same goes for Yachtsman.

I have seen the staff turn away people not "dressed appropriately" and redirected to the lounge over table service back when it was Shula's. ... But I think he may have been in cut offs and a sleeveless shirt.

I am from perhaps a different generation where if I'm going to pay $200+ for a dinner, I'm going to dress nicely ;-)

Not sure what generation you are, but my husband & I are very late 60s. We dress nicely, but long pants in 95° weather isn’t happening. My husband wears well fitting zipped, belted shorts & short sleeve button down tops with boat shoes & looks very nice. He definitely wore the same at Shula’s with no issues. In fact, the last time we were there, the table next to us was straight from the park.. jogging shorts & character tee shirts. But even still, what happened at Shula’s isn’t necessarily what the new owners will follow. One instance you don’t have the full details on doesn’t translate to rules for the new restaurant. The video evidence so far suggests shorts are allowed.

Bourbon Steak is no comparison to Yachtsman. The quality of food is so much better. We have eaten at the one in Nashville and the steaks are amazing! We used to eat at Yachtsman every trip, but the last few times we were just not as happy with our meal. I cannot wait to eat at Bourbon Steak on our next trip!

Bourbon Steak, based off of Vloggers I somewhat trust to give an honest review. However, you might have troubles securing a reservation. Book as soon as available.

We ate at Bourbon Steak this past Saturday and had an excellent experience. We had the seafood tower and Porterhouse w broccolini as a side. Key lime tart for dessert. Wine list was very similar to Shula's. Severs were the same-- so happy to see they retained them. As far as dress code-- we saw people in shorts, however nicely put together. My husband wore dark jeans as it was nighttime and a linen shirt. I wore a black dress. Decor was updated and fabrics were brighter. Really enjoying the new restaurant and will be back in a few weeks.

I love her vlog! I discovered the strip at the Flying Fish because of her. I'll be forever thankful for that discovery!

We're headed down in November and hoping to try either of these two places. I just watched some vlogs and they looked promising. We'll see which is decided on in another few weeks. I'm tempted to try Bourbon only because it's new.

I would think "resort wear" would be the key for men. It's a vacation resort.

I would go for the Bourbon Steak at Swolphin. A great variety of cuts compared to Yachtsman. Additionally, Bourbon Steak offers complimentary French fries.
