A suggestion for last minute packing- An international calling card for emergencies. That way you aren't going to be stuck paying a high rate for calling someone internationally.

I'm still going back & forth about this...calling card, global phone, international roaming package, etc. Can't figure it out!!

Is the international card good everywhere? Do you use it with land lines only??

We are in Turkey a couple nights & even my global phone won't work there!

:confused3

It has been about 4 years since the last time that I used one and I would assume that it would be for land lines only (You would have to check with your individual carrier about roaming charges and such if you tried to use your cell in a different country). You check the backs of the cards and it tells you where they are good for. We are going tonight to try and pick up the last minute stuff that I am thinking of now that we need. So I will let you know what we find out.

Ordered Euros. Check. Passports. Check. Pirate night t-shirts. Check. Packed:rotfl: Your funny. No where even close. We are wearing the clothes that we are taking with us. Can't pack them yet. (A downside to living in Florida:confused3:)):laundy: I am planning on working on some of this over the weekend. At least the taxes are done. (the upside to having a mother who is a tax accountant!):cool1:

The only thing I've got ready is what I'm wearing on Formal and Semi-formal nights and bought foreign currency :lmao:

I don't even have my FE gifts finished :scared1:

Kristi

I have piles of stuff on one of the spare beds in my house waiting for my mom to come pack it. :rotfl: Yes I'm 31 and am waiting for my mom to come over and get everything to fit in the suitcase.

I have all my dresses hanging in the doorways of my two spare rooms. I have my Euros, and my taxes were done last month and I have the money from them already.

Need to call the credit cards still and finish my magnets...show my sister where the stuff is to take care of my cats for me, get my hair and nails done....I can't believe it's finally almost here.

Now back to my crazy work day :scared1:

Back to the Rideau Route discussion:
We put in in Seeley's Bay which the map says is in Whitefish Lake but I don't remember that name. I don't think that we ever canoed past Newboro Lake. My sister, brother and I cannot remember where we left Newboro Lake though. We do remember a place where the owner had a woodworking shop but are not sure if we camped on his lot last or elsewhere.

Do you know of a woodworking shop on Newboro Lake? He made lovely furniture.

Jan

I don't know of a woodworking shop on Newboro. We don't get there too often. Do you remember going through Jones Locks/Jones Falls? or Chaffey's Lock? We are very close to Chaffey's and we go to Jones Falls often for picnics. They have a working blacksmiths shop there and people in period costumes walking around. Its a lot of fun for the kids.

Got my hair cut & colored last night, so that's now off the list of things to do...

Found a new DCL excursion for Gibraltar this morning....sent the info to Jackie & even tho it's more $$ than what we originally had planned, I think it's a :thumbsup2

Got the hold done on my mail today....

Found out from a co worker that Kmart has some light (weightwise) jeans on sale for $10.00....heading over there tonight on my way home (and Borders) to get a few pairs....then I can have some jeans on this voyage (I usually don't take them as they're so heavy).

Planning on converting US $ to Euros & Pounds (for stay in London) early next week (taking the US $ out of bank on Saturday).

Have an idea of what I need to pack but need to do :laundy: before I can start putting stuff to the side (as I wear this stuff regularly).

I think I'm basically then done (except for the taxes!!) JACKIE - please correct me if I'm wrong!!

If you are looking to take the Barcelona Tours Bus (The hop on hop off tourist site seeing bus) then you can do so once you are dropped off at the Columbus monument. The tourist bus has a stop just a few meters from where the Blue Bus leaves from the Columbus monument.

(The Blue Bus is the Cruise Ship shuttle - which does not seem to be free - 3 euros RT. I think we are docking at Pier C)

Borrowed this from my website, which comes from:

The HOHO in Cadiz is literally steps away from where you get off. There are two different loops -- we did one, and are going to try the other, which has lots of sherry places, this time. We need to find out where the HOHO is in Barcelona as we went to one of the famous markets and the medieval area via public transportation last time (I must note, however, that my husband has a phenomenal sense of direction and was armed with a good map). We were thinking of trying the HOHO in Barcelona this time around. It has to be pretty close, as my mom did it last time and she can't walk far. I'm sure someone anyone has the Barcelona HOHO info -- would also love to know! Really must starting getting my act together, I am usually much more of a planner.

was going to answer exactly what lynne put (see below)

:flower3::hug: I Love You! :hug::flower3:
OMG you guys are too CUTE! Have a wonderful anniversary and Congrats!:cheer2:

Thanks for the HOHO info for barcelona....me and the DS are doing that too:thumbsup2

QOTD.... worst drink...the coffee in most of the dining areas....Best drink.... the cappucino at Palo. I dont drink alcohol and I dont like smoothies because I hate drinking my calories....so I pretty much drink water, coffee and soda....and I LOVE that they are free! (which makes all of them good).

Good to know! I'm still waiting to hear what I will need to cover for the two weeks my little guy is out of school. Really how bad could it be, he's in Kindergarden...the letter of the week?
He's missing his play and I just told him today...he cried for half an hour. I felt so bad I baked cookies and let him have unlimited TV for the day. I mean really, I feel bad for taking him out of school for two weeks to play...what has this world come to?

Thanks Cynthia! I actually did find some more info over on Lynne's fabulous webpage but it is helpful to hear it here as well. too funny about your DH! My DH also has a fabulous sense of direction and can read a map with his eyes closed I think BUT he has been a bit "out of touch" lately and I am trying to handle all the up front stuff before we board. oiy! Not my best skill set for sure!
