After three years of playing the waiting game for the best fare, this year I bought Airtran tickets DAY-MCO a little early for our Dec trip.

Why?
-- we flew Airtran last year and were very pleased
-- the flights are nonstop and good times: early departure and late return
-- the price is reasonable, under $200 each; about $16pp more than last year
-- we get to fly out of our local airport
-- I can now make rental car reservation since I know the dates and times
-- I don't have to check prices daily for the next 2-3 months :teeth:
-- I really don't anticipate future sales being any better than last year, so we had (IMO) little to gain and a lot to lose by waiting

Makes sense to me. I think $16/person is more than worth it to avoid the hassle and worry related to checking and checking and then checking again, LOL!

I've learned the hard way to jump on a reasonable airfare as soon as I see it. It's OK if I didn't get the absolute best deal. I got a reasonably good deal. Sometimes you pay very dearly waiting for a better deal, LOL.

Kind of like this quote about investing in the stock market:

Bulls make money. Bears make money. Pigs never do.

Enjoy the trip!
