Bought on Ebay: arrived damaged!!!!!

I just got the Fisher Price Kid Tough FP3 player I bought for my son on Ebay and let me tell you I AM NOT HAPPY.
For starters when I put it on my DS's ears EVERY SONG SKIPED. Then I go to take the disk out so I can go to the online tutorial and the disk is CRACKED IN HALF!!!! I am REALLY, REALLY MAD!!! Our trip is in less than a week!!!
I thought it was fishy when I hadn't heard from the seller after purchasing the item. I had sent an email asking where the item was and informed him I needed it ASAP for our trip. Still heard nothing. A few days later I got the standard Ebay notification saying it shipped. I was so happy....AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Man I am PO'd!!!
Oh, and the guy shipped it in an unpadded envelope with no kind of protection what so ever. Again, PO'D....did I mention that???

I am so sorry that happened but I wanted to mention that I just bought one for my daughter at Walmart for $21.00. It was in the last row of toys and they had all kinds of things on clearance there.

Are you kidding?? I just went to the Fisher Price website and it says the FP3 player was discontinued in 2007. I haven't had any luck finding them around here in a store...which would be the reason for my purchasing it on Ebay. I've checked Walmart & Target...they only sell it online in the $60 range. I'm really upset because anything I order now I'll be paying full price for PLUS expedited shipping.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Did you contact the seller and tell him/her what happened? Some ebayers are nice and will actually give you a refund or try to make some sort of concession.

I have sent him 2 emails and haven't heard anything yet. He hasn't been very good about getting back to me. I see in his ratings this is his MO...that and not packaging things up right for shipping. He shipped someone an xbox loose in the box missing pieces. I wish I'd read his ratings BEFORE I bought...my own mistake.

Was his positive feedback percentage very high? Did he have many transactions under his belt? If you paid via PayPal and don't hear from him soon, I would file a dispute with PayPal. It won't fix the item, but hopefully you'll get a full refund at least.

I'm not sure I can help you with the ebay part - did you happen to pay for shipping insurance? I'm sure he will claim it was packaged appropriately and it will turn into a he said/she said issue - don't know how that would turn out for you. I do hope you get some satisfaction because I know that would be very frustrating.

In the meantime, I did check out the Fisher Price website - I would encourage you to call them and find out if there is anything you can do for the track skipping. Maybe try downloading some songs onto an SD card and playing that to see if it will work. I think you may be able to get a replacement CD from the website also since that is the only way that you can download songs from the F-P library (or maybe by contacting customer service).

I know that won't help you for your trip - but again, the player supports an SD card, so you may be able to transfer some his favorite songs to an SD card (assuming that helps with the skipping problem).

I hope you are able to get some satisfaction - I had a similar problem when I purchased a VideoNow player (I bought it brand new and it didn't work when we opened it). I emailed the manufacturer (Mattel maybe?) and they actually sent me 2 FREE players in the mail - apparently they had a lot of complaints about them.

I was actually thinking about contacting Fisher Price earlier and I did go to the website. I saw they do have the CD for purchase for $1.50. If I can't get the skipping problem fixed I don't know how much they'll do for me since I bought it on Ebay. But again, this isn't much help to me since I bought it specifically to use on the plane this coming Thursday. Doubt I can get this resovled by then. I'm going to have to suck it up and buy one for full price at Toys R' Us...if I can even find one since they have been discontinued. Ugh. So disappointing! My son's little face was so happy when he saw his new headphones just like his big brothers have.

I just thought maybe the internal memory got a little messed up somehow (either in shipping, or being dropped somewhere - whatever) and that if you used an external memory device (like the card) it might actually circumvent the skipping problem allowing your DS to still use it...

Did you pay with Pay Pal? If so, you can file a complaint through them.
