We bought 250 points at Aulani today.

We were waiting and waiting and jumped right on it first thing this morning. I know about the concerns regarding the fixed week plan and its impact on point holders. I also know about the distance to Hawaii from the east coast and the issue that construction is not completed yet and DVC will be holding a lot of our money up front.

But ... as I put my 6 year old to sleep tonight ... I started to get weepy and said to him ... "Mommy and Daddy bought something today."

He said, "What Daddy?" and I said, "We bought a piece of paradise today". "A piece of paradise that you will be able to use long after we're gone".

I know we made the right move.

I was just thinking about your long flight and thought that you may want to do a layover at the VGC. You can take your family to Disneyland, even for just one day, before heading over to Hawaii. That might help a little, especially with your 6 year old.

I was just thinking of that. I know Pete and the gang are nuts about Disneyland but I never had a desire to go. A layover on the way to Hawaii might be a great idea. Especially if I have some points I could use as VGC (we have some SSR points we can use). I'd have to book in the 7 month window though. Is that even possible or is VGC sold out all the time like BCV?

"E como mai" is welcome and "hale" is home or house.

Congratulations, we came to O'ahu on vacation in 2006 and enjoyed it some we moved here in 2007. :) There is just something "special" about Hawaii!

Congrats!! Here's to your family having wonderful times.
Can someone explain the fixed week the OP mentioned?
