Hi Michelle those are so cute! How did you fasten them to the necklace?
Thnks Nettii:goodvibes

With an O ring. You need to drill a hole into the bottle cap, wherever you want it to connect.

Thanks! Those would be cute for my boys on those metal bead chains!:goodvibes

VERY CUTE!!
instead of a drill - I use a cropadile (its a scrapbooking tool/hole punch that will punch right through the metal.) very quick and very easy
I made 11 of them or our october trip. I going with a group of 11 adults with mental retardation from work. Most of them, this will be thier first trip. they are excited - heck I'm excited!!
mine arent as fancy as yours - yours are beautiful!!

WOW! what a great idea thanks!
Have fun in October!!

Those are really cute! I'm a scrapbooker and cardmaker. I would love to get into sewing and jewelry making, but with two small kids at home, where is the time? But I really do like these necklaces!! Would they be easy to make for someone who has no jewelry making skills? If so, could you please post directions, or post the link to where you got the directions? Thank you!!

Super easy to make! I have 2 kids and am pregnant with #3 and also have my own jewelry business, so there is always time :) :)

The bottlecap necklaces are the easiest! You can buy premade or make your own. Premade are in the scrapbooking section :) If you choose to make your own, you will need the pics you want to put on them and then of course some mod Podge.

Necklace:
Chain (I buy this in bulk, but use wire cutters to cut to size).
Beads or Charms that you would like to put around the necklace.
Lobster CLaw Clasp
3 split O-rings (to attach lobster claw& 1 to attach the bottlecap to the chain)
Gems to glue on the outside of the bottlecap along the edge
crazy Clue or E600 Glue (to atttach the gems to the bottlecap)

Drill a hole at the top of the bottlecap wherever you want the chain to go through.

Glue gem stones around bottlecap AFTER the hole is drilled (allow to dry for 24hrs)

Put O ring in the hole and attach wherever you want the bottlecap on the chain.

Add beads and or charms anywhere you want on the chain.

Determine appropriate length & Cut to size the chain with wire cutters

Attach O-rings on each side of chain and then attach lobster claw to one side.

You are all done! :woohoo: :yay:

You will also need 2 pairs of pliers to work the split rings :)

O-rings (1in)

Hope this helps! Any other questions please ask away!

Michelle,

Thanks for posting the instructions! I just may have to have a go at these. I have one question, though. I really like how the chain has the two pieces that go from the bottlecap to the heart charm. Did the chain come like that, or did you add that? If you added it, can you please tell me how you did that? Thanks again for all your help. I just saw your Mickey bottlecap necklace - it is great!

BTW, I live in Rochester, IL. It is just east of Springfield. Though, I'm not close to Rockford, we are still in the same state! Just thought I'd share!

yay! always good to meet other IL peeps :)

I added the extra loop chain :)

I bought chain in bulk and cut 2 extra pieces (depending on the length of loop you want cut it to size)

I attached each strip to the bottlecap on either side & then I pulled it up to about where I wanted it to lay. (do not leave too much slack or it will not hang correctly.) I then used pliers to open up the link i wanted to attach it to and slipped it into there. (as opposed to using an o-ring because it wouldn't look too neat, but you can use one if it's easier).

I added a couple more things to the necklace to make it POP more :) I sold the first one already, so this is a new one i'm working on :)
