Does anyone here use Botox? Pros, cons, in your opinion?

I do, but it is not for cosmetic reasons. I have Blepharospasm (severe eye twitch) and I get injections near my eye to stop the twitch.

When it was first out, I was hesitant to have the injections, but once the medication stopped working, I basically had no choice.

I hate to think what I am going to do when it stops working. I am up to having the injections every 4 months. I started at every 6 months.

I had botox for the exact same reason. I had it done twice (about 6 mo apart) and since then, have not needed it for that reason.
I WANT it done for cosmetic reasons now ;) :lovestruc

I'm getting Botox injections later this month for migraines. And let me tell you, the migraines have caused plenty of wrinkles!

I get Botox for hyperhydrosis in my underarms. Works amazing.... but I'm pretty sure thats not what you meant.

A good friend of mine had it done between her eyebrows where she has pretty deep frown lines. She went to her dermatologist whose practice specializes in cosmetic procedures. She ended up with a couple of black eyes and never tried again.

I get it for purely cosmetic reasons- I can't stand the frown lines on my forehead and I like my cheek areas to remain smooth. I have been getting it done for almost 3 years now- I love it! And I go in every 5 months; works for me and I look great! Edited to add the only cons for me are the payments! LOL

I see these movie stars who get it and they look real good, but like all that stuff if ya get it to much you begin to look unhuman like

I would love to have the injections for my migraines. Does it really work? I take daily preventatives now but would LOVE to be able to get off the daily meds.

I get it also for cosmetic reasons. Between my eyes I have deep creases from years of squintining. Makes a huge difference in my face.

Where are you looking to get it...what area that is?

I'm in my mid 30s and am pretty wrinkle free except for my forehead where I have pretty significant lines. I've always been a bit self conscious about it. I was at a derm appt. for my daughter and asked the Dr. about it (she's well respected). She said it would be about $150 to "soften" the area or $225 for more significant injections. I thought this was a reasonable price. Any ideas?

I use it cosmetically to get rid of huge frown lines...works for me, no problems, other than cost......It is what it is.. alternative is surgery, I am not going down that road yet.

I think if you get it done for medical reasons (such as the ones stated here-0-the eyelid twitch thing and the hyperhydrosis) it's fine. I don't believe in getting it done purely for the sake of cosmetic enhancement though. It's a POISON and I don't want anybody shooting poison into my face just because I'm unhappy with the way I look.

Then again..I don't believe in having facelifts or liposuction done either.:duck:
