Botox-- your experiences and opinions please!

I have terrible, inherited-from-mother wrinkles on my forehead-- had them since I was a teenager, so it's not really related to age.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with Botox before. I've talked to a plastic surgeon and two dermatologists, so I know all of the risks, but I am still hesitant to go forward.

Have any of you ever had Botox injections? Liked/not liked the results?

Seriously -- people will know you've had it done, so you'll have to decide if people knowing you've used Botox is preferable to just using a hairstyle to minimize it.

However much they minimize it, you're injecting botulism poison into your body. Only you can decide if the cosmetic result is worth that.

First of all, if it's done well and not overdone, no-one will know that you did it. Not even my DH noticed when I first had it done. If someone chooses not to do it, that's their business but sheesh.
Anyway, I started having it done about 5 years ago and it is truly amazing. I still have complete control of my eyebrows and forehead, just no deep wrinkles between my eyes anymore. I can even lift up that one eyebrow when I'm really po'ed. I also do NOT have migraines anymore. Oh, I still get the light flashes but not the pain in my head.
They can also give an injection right above the out browline to lift the eyebrow, like a mini-eyelift. Amazing results. And also in the "crow's feet", which is also an amazing result. This last time I also did the upper lip and it got rid of most of the little lines/wrinkles that were forming there.
Flame on haters, if you must, but to each their own. I won't judge you if you don't, you shouldn't judge me because I do. I feel great about myself and I'm not apologizing because I look good and feel good. I like to take care of myself, I'm still a size 6 at 5'9" and in my forties. I'm rockin'!!

wow thats a great price! Maybe I'll start looking into it! How long does it last? Also how do you look after the procedure? Does it hurt (I know stupid question but still!)?

It lasts anywhere from 4-8 months for me, depending on the spot. The lip injection was almost a year ago and is still working.
There is no sign of the injections, even right afterwards. Sometimes there's a tiny red spot where the needle went in, I mean really tiny.
does it hurt?.....ummm yeah. Not really bad, not at all like getting a flu shot or something, way less than that. But the one in the upper lip is hella ouchie!!

I had it done a week ago. He gave me around 8 shots. The needle is very, very thin. I didn't feel much at all. But, I did hear a crunchy sound. The dr. explained why. I forget what he said. The whole procedure lasted all of 10-15 minutes. I left his office looking the same way I went in. Just alittle pink. It took affect around 4 days after and I finally have a great looking eyebrow arch (like an eyebrow lift, I love it) The 3 wrinkles on the top of my forehead are completely gone, I still have total movement, as I told him beforehand that I don't want that surprised look on my face. I did get a slight, slight headache. It was so minor, that If I wasn't expecting it, I wouldn't have even noticed. I took tylenol and it went completely away.

I go back next week for a follow-up. He told me that it can last around 4 mo. or so and the more I go the less the wrinkles will be there because your not using that area when making facial expressions.

I went to a plastic surgeon and it cost me 400.00. His normal price is 425.00, but I've been there before for microdermabrasion and referred a friend to him, so he gives a discount when you do a referral.

I do intend to keep up with it, because I love the way it makes me look and I absolutely love my new eyebrow arch.

I did do research on botox, before I went, so I do recommend doing the same. There are some side affects that some people can get, that did make me alittle nervous, (eye lid droop). They say that the injector has alot to do with some of the side affects, so just make sure you go to one who it experienced with giving botox shots.

Thanks for the info guys. The plastic surgeon (who I'd be more inclined to go to) quoted me $250 for my forehead, which is really all I'd want done. He gave me before & after pictures of some of his clients, as well as phone numbers for references. In all the pictures, the women (and one man) looked really, really natural. Not at all that "scared" look a lot of Hollywood women end up with.

I'm not concerned with people knowing, but I want to have to TELL them, not have my forehead speak for itself! And this is something I've been self-conscious about since I was 16, so the thought of not having them anymore.... very exciting!
