Boston - where to eat

Forgot to add - if you are looking for reasonably priced seafood check out Yankee Lobster. Not the best ambiance, but fair prices and good food. The Lobster Roll was delicious.

La Famiglia Giorgio on Salem St. YUMMY! Boy do I miss that place. And Mikes of course!

I have to disagree with the above posters. Melting pot is neither budget friendly or family friendly, I consider it more an adults night out or a romantic dinner.

I would highly recommend something in the North End for Dinner (Hanover Street), but alot of them are cash only so be prepared for that. Also get there on the earlier side as the restaurants are small, but you won't get a better Italian meal and I would be surprised if you were disappointed.

I disagree completely about Durgin Park, I have not been there lately, but I was NOT impressed the last time and think it's much more touristy than what the locals would do.

Cheer's again, you are going there for name only, food is nothing outstanding.

Since you will be near the aquarium there are several good fish restaurants in that area, One especially, named - no name fish restaurant.

Quincy Market is fun, but expensive some of the outside restaurants are better.

If you are in the area Legal Test Kitchen is good(LTK) most people do not even realize it is a restaurant.

Quincy Market is a great place to eat because there is something for everyone. It's also a good place to take a break for lunch then continue on to the waterfront and North End. If you haven't already seen this website there may be some good free discounts and travel info.

Also we have taken the Boston Harbor MBTA Harbor Ferry from Long Wharf to Charlestown Navy Yard where the USS Constitution is. It's really cheap (like $1.70 pp) for the inner harbor ferry. It's a nice harbor boat ride which gives a little different view of Boston from the water and I believe it even passes by Logan so you can the planes taking off on the other side.

I hope you have a great time!

If you get a chance, head up to Kelly's in Revere Beach. Known for their roast beef sandwiches, but the lobster rolls and fried clams are to die for. Interesting beach scene going on also. We took the subway up, and had a quarter mile or so walk. Well worth it.

Yes!! Yankee Lobster - it was our very first stop on our vacation last year. There was an all out war on TripAdvisor over Barking Crab, I think Summer Shack and Yankee Lobster. It is a tiny, locals type place. LOVED IT! Let me see if I can get some pics:

YES! It is SO COOL to take the water shuttle (it leaves from near the Aquarium) and see the city from the water. When you get to the Navy Yard, get off and take the tour of the Constitution. I think it's free. You can do a self-guided tour of the top deck or wait for a guided tour which takes you beneath decks. Quite illuminating!! There's also a Coldstone Creamery right around the corner!

Ugh, Revere Beach... grew up near there. Unless it's changed DRASTICALLY, I wouldn't spend my vacation time doing this!

Ya, just drove through it last week. Yuck! I highly recommend NOT visiting Revere!

LOL - Trip Advisor is where I got the idea to go there. I would never have found it otherwise.

We spent last weekend in Boston!! We went to the North End on Saturday, there was a street festival going on, for St. Joseph. Apparently there are 8 different festivals through the summer. A couple more are coming up.
Anyway every restaurant was packed!! Some had long lines outside. Mike's Pastry and Modern Pastry both had lines down the block! We walked around the feast and got street food.

There is a website about the north end of boston, gives a lot of information.

Great to see such a thriving area, especially compared to NYC Little Italy which has really diminished over the years.

If you go to Mike's pastry, you have to get a lobster tail!! Think about flaky pastry filled with sweetened ricotta cheese - YUM! Better than a cannoli in my opinion because there is lots more filling.:rotfl:
