That is sooo unfair! She would have had a fit if I took sick time to take DS to Harry Potter!
Ahhhh - I need a vacation - oh ya 13 more days!

What an idiot for telling people what she's using the sick leave for!!!

I'm using 3 hours of vacation time this afternoon to take DS to see HP...it never dawned on me to pull a slick leave day. :)

I'm using an hour of sick time to go see Harry Potter and my boss approved it.

Wow! I never have thought of using sick time, vacation time, personal time to go to the movies.

Have a great time everyone!

DH, and my son's best friend's parents are all 3 taking off work early today to go see HP with us. Orginally it started out with me taking the kids after school, but all the adults wanted to go too, so they're taking off work early.

I'm not sure if my dh told the people in his department where he was going or not. He's a very nice boss though, and let's his employees take off early for silly things periodically too.

I wouldn't advocate making up a fictional dr.'s appointment as an excuse. But if you're honest and the time is approved, I don't see a problem with it.

I would love to see this movie today too, but I personally have a problem with taking "sick" time to do that.

Aren't you supposed to be SICK for "sick leave"?

My sick time and personal time are lumped together and quite frankly I don't care if someone approves of what I do with my time or not. I was honest with my boss and she had no problem with.

I am a good employee. I seldom take time off and if I want to leave at 6pm instead of 7pm so I can have dinner and a movie with friends for a special occasion, then that's my right.

Very often employees are awarded special considerations because of unpaid overtime or some other circumstances that an employer feels deserves a little reward.

It really is an employer/employee issue and not anybody else's business.
