I've been thinking of trying this out for a while now, but cost keeps me from actually doing it. Does anyone have this, and if so, was it worth the $ in your opinion? It looks like (from the latest junk mail) that they are pushing it for ease of use now. I am more interested in sound, but ease is good too. How is the sound in a large room?

Also, looks like the basic is $499, with a CD changer its $750. Is that about what you paid? Much thanks.

We have one, the one with the tiniest cube speakers, so it cost a lot. I think it is this one http://www.bose.com/controller?url=...el_systems/dvd_systems/lifestyle_48/index.jsp

We've had it 3 years and my husband loves it. I think it's fine, but I'm not really that into the whole idea that we paid more to hear things surround us. Regular tv speakers are good enough for me. But, like I said, my husband loves it and uses it all the time for music, tv, and movies.

A lot of people love the effect, but purists will tell you that simulation distorts the reality, and that if you really want the sound to surround you, you should get a system that actually puts speakers all around you. YMMV.

I've got the portable ipod dock and I love it. The sound is still great when I carry it outside. It is much better than other docks I have used. No complaints.

My only experience with Bose is with their earbuds for my youngest DS's Zune. DS is very hard on them! Bose has EXCELLENT customer support and has replaced them numerous time NC!

If I ever get a new sound system, I will buy Bose!:thumbsup2

I had an installer who has worked in surround sound installation for a while tell me that BOSE stands for

He wasn't a fan. A lot of experts aren't. I've always thought they sound good, though. Still, I prefer a true 5.1 experience.

If you have an HDTV look into a blu-ray home theater setup instead of just a speaker and CD player - the blu-ray player will play the CDs and then you also have Blu-ray all in one nice little package - fewer boxes, fewer wires, fewer remotes, etc. You can find one for less money than the CD Bose system for sure.
