Borrowing to take two trips

I have a June use year with about 80 points left. I rented out points to a friend for her honeymoon and now I have friends and family that want to take vacations.
So, I want to book 5 days at the Poly in October and then one week at SSR in May.
Am I correct in the understanding that I can use my remaining 2006 points and then borrow some for the trip in October 2006 and then borrow points from 2008 to use on the May 2007 trip? I'm very confused...

Actually you would be able to borrow your points from your June 2007 UY for that trip in May 2007. I don't think you can borrow the ones from 2008 into May 2007 because that is actually part of your 2006 UY. You could use the remaining 2006 UY points and borrow some 2007 ones for the May trip and then use 2007 points and borrow some 2008 ones for the October trip however.

Assuming the 80 points are 2006 points, you can use those points and 2007 points for both trips. Borrowing 2008 points can't be done until June 2007 if I'm not mistaken, and I may well be. I'll be interested in following this.

Short answer: Since you have a June use year, you cannot borrow points from your 2008 use year to take a trip in May 2007.

Longer answer:

June 2006 use year points are good for stays between 6/1/2006 and 5/31/2007.
June 2007 use year points are good for stays between 6/1/2007 and 5/31/2008.
June 2008 use year points are good for stays between 6/1/2008 and 5/31/2009.
June 2009 use year points are good for stays between 6/1/2009 and 5/31/2010.
etc.

A trip in May 2007 falls within your 2006 use year. For that trip you can use points from your 2006 use year (those would be considered current use year points for that trip), points that were banked into your 2006 use year from your 2005 use year or points that are borrowed from your 2007 use year.

You may only bank one use year ahead. You may only borrow from the following use year.

So for a May 2007 trip, (which is in your 2006 use year), you cannot pay with points from the 2008 use year - that would be borrowing from 2 use years ahead and that is not allowed.

I understand you did not ask for advice, so feel free to ignore mine, LOL.

If it were me, I would not use my precious points to book a stay at the Poly - especially for someone else. In almost every case, it is less expensive to book the Poly through CRO and pay cash. FWIW, a night at the Poly will cost more in points than a night at a 2 bedroom at a DVC resort.

If you want to treat your friends and family, my advice is to tell them your generosity is limited to the DVC resorts.
