Borrowing Question

Sorry dumb question from a newbie. I understand that if I borrow points for a reservation and then cancel, that those borrowed points stay in the current use year. I would need to use those borrowed points within the current use year. But can I still bank my current use year points that were not borrowed if I cancel my reservation?

Yes, you can bank any current UY points before the banking deadline even if you have borrowed points in that UY. I've done that several times when I've had to cancel a reservation or update a reservation that used fewer points.

As long as you are still within your banking window and did not cancel 30 to 1 days before your trip, the (not borrowed) current use-year points should still be bankable.

The booking system is "smart" enough to use borrowed points first for a reservation unless they are already tied up in another reservation.
