Happy Labor Day! Hope you're doing fun stuff.

We're looking at a 100 pt OKW for $75 with 49 pts coming in on 3/1/06. Our vacation next year will be in May (we usually go April or May) and for five days. 5 days at OKW = 50 points. 1 pt shy. Will we be able to borrow 1 pt from the following year to make up for that? What is the timing on that?

You can make a reservation at OKW using those points tomorrow for any dates thru August 5, 2006. With a March Use Year, you will be able to make a reservation for any date between March 1, 2006 and February 28, 2007 using the 49 points you will have available and may borrow from the 2007 Use Year for that same timeframe. (Those 49 points may also be borrowed for a trip prior to March, 2006 if desired.)

In this case, be aware that this is a stripped contract- with no current (2005 UY) points and only a portion of the 2006 points available. Your maintenance fees will still be due on 100 points in January. Otherwise, the contract sounds all right if that's the number of points you are looking for.

Good luck!

maintence fees could be prorated btwn the seller and the buyer. All is negotiable.

True. But I think Doc's point was that beezerdave is going to get a bill from DVC for 2006 MF x 100 points. Yes, you can use that as a negotiating point on the resale contract. But DVC will bill the current owner, whomever that may be, for 2006 dues based upon the actual contract size.

If you do make an offer on that contract, make sure you are not paying '06 dues for points that were already used by the seller.
