Just want to make sure I am correct before I finalize. We have a Feb 22-24 reservation on the books. We might have to change to March 1-3...Our UY is April...we have enough 2018 points for ONE of them, not both. If we borrow for the March one now (just to lock it in) and ultimately decide on March, we can cancel and have MS apply the 2018 points to the March trip and move the borrowed points back?

Borrowing is a one way street. Once borrowed the points cannot be put back.

Points can only be banked during the first 8 months of your UY. Your UY is not a calendar year. Points need to be available during the dates of your stay, not when you make the reservation. Banking moves points one UY forward, borrowing moves points one UY back. Banking and borrowing are final transactions and can not be reversed.

Would you decide before your banking deadline? The borrowed points could still be used for the reservation and the original 2018 points could be banked. Then they’ll be locked in the next use year, but it’s better than losing them.
