Borrowing points

I really should know this by now, but I always get confused with borrrowing my points. My use year is September. I want to book at AKV in August 2018. Currently I have zero points in my 2017 UY, but I have 293 in my 2018 UY. Here’s my question, I want to use most of those points for an August trip for DD, DGS and DGD. But I also want to book a trip in January 2019 for myself and DH ... can I borrow the needed points for that trip from my 2019 UY? Thanks for any help!

Be careful traveling at the end of your UY (i.e. in August) - that is extra risky if you need to cancel as your banking window would likely be closed and you may not have a lot of options to move points around.

Always start by figuring what UY your stay falls into. You can book your home resort at 11 months out, so you can book Jan 2019 starting in Feb 2018. A Jan 2019 stay falls into your 2018 UY, so yes, you can use banked 2017 pts + current 2018 pts + borrowed 2019 pts (if needed) when you call or go online in Feb 2018.
