Borrowing Points

I'm thinking about borrowing points from our 2014( UY is April) to use for a trip around Christmas time. I do know if something happens and we aren't able to go the points have to be used this year. My question is that by Dec. 31st or by March 31,2014?

by March 31,2014. the end of the UY that the pts were borrowed into.
