I understand that if I borrow points they have to be used during the use year they are borrowed into. But what if you add on points after you borrow? We will have used all but 5 of our 05-06 points(Aug uy) by the end of Dec 05 but are planning to go again in Jan for the marathon and then May for the 1/2 Ironman. I'm not so worried about the 1/2 Ironman as that draws a fraction of the people to the World that the marathon weekend will and it's getting pretty close to the use year anyway. I really want OKW for the marathon but SSR is my home resort. I was thinking about booking SSR(62 points) now and then going on wait list at OKW or just transfering the ressie to OKW(56 points) in June when it hits 7 months. That scenario requires borrowing points though. We have already decided to add at least 50 and more likely 150-200 points on in the next year and I want OKW points so that we have a second 11 month booking window and reasonable contract size if I were to ever sell. However, it will be at least Aug before we start adding those points on.

So should I book now? BTW, it wouldn't break my heart to stay at SSR(our Dec ressie is there- yeah DTD), OKW is just really close to the full marathon start. Mom mentioned maybe just renting points rather than worrying about using our own too. Thoughts, suggestions?

Book now and borrow the points don't chance it by waiting. When you get to the 7 month mark, I think you will be able to switch the reservation without a problem. If not, go on a wait list. When you add-on, if you can't use the new points, you can just bank them and use them next year.

Borrowing is a great feature because it doesn't cost anything to do. It's not like borrowing money. Better to use tomorrow's points today if you can and especially if you have to to do what you want.
