We have always been bankers, not borrowers. But the time has come for us to do some borrowing. I still struggle some with how the system works as far as putting your contracts in the order you want to use them, but it's really fuzzy when you throw borrowing into the mix. Hopefully someone can help.
I am wanting to book two nights at the Poly for our February trip for a total of 50 points. Here's what I have remaining:
AKV--
2021: 18
2022: 80 (can borrow only 30 more)
HHI--
2021: 0
2022: 100 (can borrow only 50)
I would like to use the 18 AKV points plus borrow 7 from AKV 2022 and then borrow 25 from HHI 2022. I'm wanting to leave 75 HHI 2022 points to book a HHI summer trip for next year. But I don't think I can do that, can I? I don't think the system will let me borrow a few from one contract and then a few from another. Or will it? The other day when I borrowed, I remember having to manually enter the number of points I wanted to borrow. It only showed one contract to borrow from, but that was because I was nearly 11 months out. If you are within 7 months, will it show all of your contracts and you can manually enter how many points you want to borrow from each??? If this can't be done...
I'm thinking I have two options:
1. Book the two Poly nights separately (25 each). For one night, use the 18 AKV points plus borrow 7. For the next night, borrow 25 from HHI. This is chancy though because I might get one night but not the other.
2. Make a dummy reservation at HHI for next June (will have to wait until the first of July) using 75 points, leaving 25. Then when I book the two nights at the Poly, put my HHI contract first so it will borrow the remaining 25 and then it will use the 18 AKV points plus borrow the final 7 from AKV. Not sure if this will work since I will have current AKV points in my account. Will it make me use those first before borrowing from a different contract? (Also, I kind of hate making dummy reservations since someone may want those dates, even though I will cancel it pretty quickly.)
Will either of these work? Which is my better option?
