Borrowing points question

Hi,
We are looking at purchasing a contract for AK but have a little problem, the contract has an October use year and we are looking at using our contract for our wedding trip for two weeks from the 27th of September 2018, the contract has been stripped right until 2018. My question is basically could this contract still work for us? could we borrow some of the points from 2018 into 17 then from 2019 into 2018s UY for the second part of the trip?

If I understand correctly, then yes, that contract would work for your scenario. As long as the points that are sitting in the Oct 18 UY are not previously banked points then you can borrow what you need to for reservation from Sept 27- Sept 30, and then use the remainder of your Oct 18 UY points for Oct 1 - your end date, and/or if need by, borrow from Oct 19 UY to complete the reservation. Keep in mind that borrowing is a final transaction and since you'll be borrowing from the Oct 18 UY and using them so late in Sept. (the last month of your Oct 17 UY) you could run into issues of losing the points if you have to cancel late in the game and can't make alternative reservations due to limited availability.

Unless it is an awesome deal, I would look to get a non-stripped contract
