Borrowing points question

Are we allowed to do this?

For example:
If I have 100pts each from resort A and B.
Say I need to make a reservation with 250 points at resort C.
And I want to use:
100 points from resort A this year
50 points from resort B this year
and
100 points from resort A next year.

Basically I want all my left over points to be from resort B.

I tried to do this today and the CM said the computer won't allow it.
That she has to use All the points from this year before she could dip into next year's points.

Sorry if I'm confusing you all. But I want to make sure that I was given the right information.

It's a either a dumb rule or a dumb program or an inexperienced CM. Not sure which. But it's probably not worth arguing with MS about it. You can just work around it:

Call and make a reservation that uses 50 points from resort B.

Then call back and make the reservation you really want using the points you want to use. Once that's done, cancel the 50 point reservation. Your "leftover" points will all be from Resort B
