While looking at some long-term plans, the following question came to mind and I am unsure of the answer.

Assuming you met the banking deadlines, if you were to borrow points from one year and find you had too many due to a change in plans, can you bank your original points later.

For example, you borrow 100 points from year 2005 to year 2004, can you later bank back some 2004 points to 2005?

Yes, you can do that.

Keep in mind that points are borrowed only when actually making a reservation. In the scenario you posed, you would have to later cancel the reservation made with the borrowed points ... or revise it so that fewer points were used for the reservation. In that case, you would make sure that MS uses all of the borrowed points for the revised reservation and you cna then bank the unused "current" points into the next Use Year.

Enjoy!

So, in essence, when they say that "borrowing is a final transaction" it can actually be reversed by this process?

Sounds good!

Yes, but keep in mind that banking is a final transaction also. Thus in the scenario being discussed, those 2004 points banked into 2005 are now locked into the 2005 use year and can ONLY be used during that specific 12 month period.

If you go to WDW every year this should not be a problem. But for someone who is an every-other-year type member this could give them points in a potential 'off' year and force them to go to WDW that extra in-between year. However, I suppose this is really not such a terrible thing to have to do.....:teeth:
