We borrowed points from our 2012 Feb use year to book a 1/28/12-2/3/12 reservation. Circumstances have come up and need to change our ressie to Feb 1-6. Are the January points lost? Is there anyway around this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are new at this. TIA

I don't think there is anything you can do with the borrowed 2012 points booked for the January days.

The most you could get out from those points would be renting the points to someone else and at least get some money. You may be able to rent those Jan days to someone that wants that reservation, but Dis only allows you to advertise a reservation 30 days or less out.

You are already past the window to deposit into RCI (by the end of September)

I've heard MS may grant a one time banking forgiveness (if you still had '11 points to bank within the "rule of 4"). Never heard them returning borrower points, though. I suppose it does not hurt to nicely ask.

Can I rent the points for different dates or just the reservation? Thanks

Based on availability, yes, the points could be used for any night(s) before Feb 1. (You would cancel then re-book for the renter)

Availability may be low enough that the existing reservation may be worth more to the right person.
