Borrowed Points now got free dining offer

I borrowed points from my 2011 use year for our July 2010 trip in a VWL studio. I just received a pin for the free quick service dining plan which I would like use. For this trip, we were planning on using the dining plan and needed to buy park tickets anyway. Am I basically out of luck? We are not planning another trip to WDW until next July - I have a February use year. Can I book a trip now using the points for 2011?

Any "free" dining plan comes only with rooms booked on cash not DVC points and thus you cannot get it. Those points once borrowed must be used during this use year so you do not want to cancel the DVC booking to go with a cash booking instead unless you are certain you are returning before January 31, 2011.

As to making a July 2011 trip using Feb 2011 points, you cannot do the reservation at your home resort until August 2010 because that is when the 11 month window begins for a July 2011 trip.

DVC points reservations can add the dining plan without buying park tickets...OTOH, you are not eligible for "free" dining on points stays (as it is already a discounted room price.)

the borrowed feb 2011 pts cannot be put back into 2011 and will expire on feb 1,2011 if you don't use them for a stay prior to that date.

Preference would be to transfer to another member but I think I read somewhere that borrowed points cannot be transferred. Is it also true that we could not stay at a concierge property over the Xmas holiday since that would be within the last 4 months of the use year?

Renting the points would be a consideration.

Borrowed points cannot be transferred, but you could use those points to stay at any of the non-DVC options as long as the reservation is made prior to the last 4 months of your Use Year. You should be able to reserve that reservation right now, depending on availability.
