Borrowed points before Covid. Can I modify reservation?

I borrowed points into my 2021 use year for a March 2021 reservation. If I modify that reservation (cancel a few days so I can free up points for a few nights before a summer cruise) will I then be subject to the new 50% rule or since the points were already borrowed can I do as I see fit with them?

I have been told that if it was before the changed, you can rebook using the points as long as you get them in something new before they got sent back.

I had the same situation and emailed MS and that is what they told me.

Last night I modified my July reservation that was booked on mostly borrowed points before the new rule to January with no issues. I called member services instead of doing it myself because I was unsure if the rule would affect me but she made all the changes and told me what I needed to do with the few leftover points. We are sad we had to cancel July, but with the COVID cases rising every day we felt it was best to move the trip.
