Bored with DHS

Anyone else bored with DHS? Over the past few years, it's really taken a nose dive in terms of my desire to go. Just becoming really bored with the rides and the attractions. Not to mention, the lunch options are absolutely horrendous and since food is a big part of the experience for me, really makes DHS even more unappealing.

Don't go and tell disney why.. That is the best option more than enough to do at the other parks but I really like tower of terror and RNR so don't think I could ever skip the parks, and TSMM if I have a FP .

We don't skip DHS, but last trip I just went for 3 hours.. booked some FP+ for TSM and Tower. Then we walked on Star Tours since we were there... but my time at DHS has been declining each and every trip.

I consider it a half day park.

Tower of Terror is my favorite ride at WDW.

Last time I went, it was my arrival day and I went about 4:30
I saw the Muppets Movie (it was closed the time before and I love the Muppets),
did Toy Story Midway Mania (I still enjoy this one with a FP),
Star Tours (FP),
watched The Little Mermaid
rode RNRC single rider line
did The Art of Animation twice (my first time ever in this attraction)
did Tower of Terror twice - once with FP and once with a 5 minute wait
Had a vegetarian sandwich and a Yuengling for dinner at Backlot Express (OK)
skipped Fantasmic since I had seen it last time I was there
was at the bus stop before the crowd from the first Fantasmic (9 PM) was out

I get your point but don't feel this way at all. I really like ToT, RNR and the most underrated exhibit Walt Disney: One Man's Dream. I will say (this is going to sound odd) but the whole teen vibe at DHS I don't care for. I don't mind the young child for MK but there's something about the teen atmosphere that makes me cringe.

I just got back this evening from our trip to WDW and I can say that I did not spend a whole lot of time in DHS either. We went at rope drop, did RnRc stand by, the girls wanted to go on it again and since standby was only 20 minutes we road it again. Then used our FP+ for ToT, then rode the Great Movie Ride, used our FP+ at TSM, took in Indiana Jones, rode Star Tours and then ate at Mama Melrose and the Fantasmic Dining. After lunch we left the park around 1:30 and resort hopped a bit and had dinner on the Boardwalk and came back for Fantasmic. There are many here on the DIS who love this park, but for me it is a 1/2 day park at best.

I don't really find much to do at DHS. It will be even harder with FP+ for me. I like TSM and RnR. I don't like heights so skip ToT but I love Star Tours and watch Indiana Jones every time. But TGMR really really needs an update. This is my least favourite park but I do like Fantasmic so I like to take an afternoon break.

We don't spend much time at DHS (not compared to the other 3 parks) We hit the highlights really:

TSM (fastpass only - it's not worth standing in a long time for)
Beauty and the Beast
Journey of the Little Mermaid
Starring Rolls
Great Movie Ride
Meet the Characters around the Hat + Animation Building
Characterpalooza
Fantasmic

We never used to spend much time there. Until a few years ago CS options left much to be desired so we found ourselves leaving the park when we got hungry and just not going back. There were always attractions there that we liked but it was a part/half day park.

Since then the CS offerings have improved greatly, however old habits die hard and we continued to plan half days or just do the EMH and leave. Then in 2012 we had a sudden unexpected change of plans one morning and headed out to DHS and decided to try do everything we could and spend a full day there with evening EMH added at the end. It changed our impression of the park so much that we canceled an Epcot day so we could spend more time there before we came home. I think the problem for me was partly that DD was at that in between stage when we started going so not into the Playhouse Disney things and also not really into the entertainment side of it. Boy has that changed! The rest of the problem was simply that until we gave it a fair chance, I really just didn't get that park. Now I do.

I love Tower of Terror and RnR, and ST is good. We've still never even been on TS (we've been there 3 times since it opened-never wanted to bother rushing to get in line). I'll always love the muppets, but nothing else there is "can't miss". I couldn't even tell you the last time we stayed a full day. Lights, Motor, Action was fun for a while, but the last time we saw that, half of the stuff didn't even work. I think the last time I saw the other live shows was about 20 years ago.

And the Backlot Tour makes me sad. Everybody loves Honey, I Blew Up the Kid props, right??

I'm always amazed that when people make lists of what they do at HS, those lists rarely include One Man's Dream. After all, isn't understanding Disney's history part of appreciating Disney. No, One Man's Dream is not a thrill ride or a glitzy show, but it's Disney at it's core.

Many people will readily give 20 minutes to a standy line for a ride they've ridden, or a character they've met, before. But, they wouldn't 'dream' of giving the same to absorbing some Disney history.

And, for parents of children, yes, your kids may find it boring, but they may not. Give them a chance and let them decide for themselves. Each time you visit WDW, spending a little time in One Man's Dream will help strengthen your overall Disney experience.

I'm with the OP.

We had a lunch Fantasmic! package at HBD, one of our favorite restaurants, Dinner at Sci Fi did TSMM twice, once at rope drop and one FP+ we did everything we wanted to do but we were done by mid-afternoon.

I ended up sitting reading a book on my phone in the new lounge next to HBD with a glass of wine while my DD's and DH rode RNR and TT multiple times in a row. By the time dinner rolled around the family was bored. We would have cancelled dinner and gone back to the hotel if we could.

This is my favorite place to wander the shops because I've always felt it is the least crowded especially with strollers.

So our next trip we have only a half day planned. We're doing a Fantasmic! lunch at Momma Melrose (no HBD available) leave and then come back for Fantasmic!. My DH is not coming back with us, he said he has seen it enough times already.

We go to DW every summer for 10-14 days. We go to HS one day and that's enough for me. It's not that I feel bored, it's just that I don't feel the magic like I do elsewhere. I can't really explain it.

It would probably be the last theme park in Florida I'd consider visiting if it wasn't tied in with the Disney package.

I think for us the issue is that so much of DHS is shows. If you've already seen them a bunch of times or aren't interested in them to begin with, there's not a whole lot else.

We've seen the car show and Indy enough that we don't feel like sitting through them again. It would kill my boys to sit through Beauty & the Beast! They're too old for Disney Junior. I have dragged them to Mermaid because it was middle of the day and HOT!

We always do One Man's Dream, Muppets, and Fantasmic. But that's about it.

Then for rides, we love ToT, TSMM, Great Movie Ride.

Jack Sparrow was 20 minutes of my life I wish I could have back! Not into Star Wars and afraid Star Tours would leave me feeling !

It's definitely a slow down and take in the sites kind of place, just to stretch out our time there! This year, we're going to the Villains party and debating whether we even go back for another day there or not!

I like DHS. RnRC, TSMM, GMR (wouldn't mind an update on GMR), ToT, and my favorite...One Man's Dream. Also like 50's Prime Time a lot, and SciFi for the pure fun of it. Still like Fantasmic, and am excited to see Osborne's Lights again this year. I think Star Tours is much improved, get a kick out of the muppets, and think Indiana Jones is worth a visit every few years. So overall, DHS isn't a park I would skip.

I get what people are saying but I still really like the park. We hit tower of terror, star tours , rock n roller coaster, toy story mania and one man's dream. I love the architecture and the shops house some really good merchandise. We always enjoy sitting for a coffee somewhere. We love the burgers at sci fi. It's probably not a full day for us but we aren't full day park people.

Got to admit: it is my least favorite park. But then again I don't go on RNR or TOT, so I guess that is a given. I do like the Indy Jones Show though.

For our family DHS is a must. We will start with early ADR at H & V. TSMM, Disney Jr live on stage, little mermaid, muppets and the great movie ride are musts. Beauty and the beast as well of the times work. I love the relaxing feel of DHS. But every family is different. Next year when we visit we are doing 2 parks. MK and DHS. Maybe AK. For us right now Epcot is half day so we are skipping it.

Nope, it's our 2nd favorite park. We've never gotten bored. We also think Backlot is one of the best CS restaurants in all of the parks.
