Border Crossing ?

Hey everyone....

It's been awhile since I have been on this site. I hope everyone is doing well.

I have a couple of questions regarding border crossing with kids. My boyfriend and I want to take his son to WDW in Decemeber. He sees his son once a year, and wants this to be a surprise. Our question is: What documentation do we need to cross the border? Obviously the passport, but what does he need to get his son over the border?

Also, I was thinking of taking my godson with us as they are the same age and I think they would have a great time together. Will I require the same documentation, and if not, what will I need?

Here's a link that was posted on another thread http://www.pptc.gc.ca/can/with_child.aspx?lang=e. I would attempt to have this signed ASAP. The reason I say this is because I don't know if your BF is on good terms with his son's mother. If so, he can request the Court to grant permission in lieu of the mom. You would be hard pressed to find a judge that wouldn't grant a father access to their child to take on a vacation. Especially if custody arrangements are also for that period of time.

You don't say if you are driving across the border -- as of right now - the legal requirement is a birth certificate and the notarized letter from the non-travelling parent.

You don't legally require a passport to drive across till sometime after January 2008 or maybe even June 2009. The final date is not set.

That said .. it never hurts to get passports.

Thanks!!! It was hard work finishing school....just about quit a couple of times. But, I finished my degree, wrote my exam, and took a full time position at the Stollery childrens hospital (comparable to the Toronto's Children hospital) here in the city....Well worth the schooling. But, don't worry - one day London might be in the cards!!!
