Bootleg Lion King DVD?

Pretty sure I just bought a bootleg DVD off of Ebay, wanted to check with you guys before I rip this guy apart. The print quality seems a little off for a Disney product. This is what the back cover looks like:

Nevermind, I just noticed a bunch of misspellings, definitely a bootleg.

Now what? I suspect that you report him to Ebay but will anything happen to him besides being banned? For the record, I hope that they get the authorities involved and catch the seller.

You can report him and if you paid by PayPal you can file a claim and eventually get your money back.
 

I had that happen with the Toy Story DVD's a few years back. The set-up screen in is Malaysian! I reported it and got less than half my money back because that's all the seller had in their paypal account and paypal closed the case, calling it settled. Nothing further came of it and I was beyond disappointed in paypal.
 
Are you sure the seller knows it is a bootleg copy? Is he selling a laot of the same title? Or could it be something that he purchased/was given and now doesn't want anymore?

He has several Disney DVDs for sale, I assume they are all bootleg.

I sent him a message:
Dear ajt0411,

I just got the DVD today. Care to explain to me why your auction didn't list the DVD as a bootleg, and a poor one at that? I haven't even opened the wrapper and there are several horrendous misspellings on the back cover, plus the fact that it looks as though it was printed on a 1980's printer. Needless to say, I am not happy. Let me know what you would like to do to resolve this amicably.

If you are NOT happy with the DVD then ship it back to me and I will issue a FULL REFUND. This is listed clearly on the listing. Have a Good Evening.

Better than the earlier post is tips@disneyantipiracy.com which is a special office in Disney Legal. They take this sort of thing very seriously.

Reported, thanks for the link. I filed a paypal and ebay dispute already. This was supposed to be part of a present for my girlfriend who is a huge Disney fan and hasn't been able to find an unopened copy of this movie. It's worth losing some money to see this guy get what he deserves.
 
So I left negative feedback saying that it was in fact, a fake item. He then sent me an email:
You write to me to resolve this issue you have with the DVD. I reply to return the item for a FULL REFUND. You proceed to write a negative feedback without even resolving the issue. It only tells me that you are an immature New Yorker who has no class and poor communication skills. You negative feedback means nothing to me because you are not the first. If you want you REFUND go to PayPal and file a complaint and wait one month for your REFUND. This all could have been resolve within 3 days but you want to try and be the loud mouth tough guy that you are NOT!

and my response:
You're a criminal trying to make money by bootlegging someone else's hard work, and passing it off as genuine. The feedback is there to let the next person know that they are about to buy a fraudulent copy of the DVD. The fact that I am from New York has nothing to do with my attitude, but my disdain for liars, cheats, and thieves does. You want good feedback because you offered me my money back for selling me A BOOTLEG? And you tell me I have no class, at least I work an honest job for a living. I hope you get everything you deserve, and I don't mind waiting a month for my money.

I wonder if it is the same person I bought Lion King from last year. Both the jacket and inside DVD were riddled with mispellings. Even "Disney" was spelled wrong on the DVD itself. I reported him and my money was refunded.
 
A good rule of thumb is once a Disney movie is in the vault, any unopened copy is either expensive or bootleg.
