Booster Seat while in FL

Here's the scoop. My DD 6 is 52 lbs and 49 inches tall. I am pretty sure I will need to have a booster for her while we are in FL. (We are renting a car because we have to travel to Palm Beach after WDW) Here are my options as I see them.

1) Do I gate check her existing booster, it's just the base she doesn't need the back anymore?
2) Rent one from car rental?
3) Stop at Target while there an buy a cheap one and then give it away?

Any thoughts?

I would bring the one you have. If it's a backless one, you may even be able to bring it on board and put it in the overhead bin. This way it won't get lost.

BTW from the research I've done, HBB's provide significant Side Impact Protection so unless she's outgrown the back on her current seat by height, I'd continue to use it. Here's an article on How to Best Protect Children in Side Impacts in case you're interested.

For travel, you can carry the bottom on and pack the back in a suitcase if you want. That way, if a bag does get misrouted or lost, you'll still have the bottom part to use.

WE carried on our backless boosters and used them in the rental car. Another option if you aren't already taking your limit of checked bags is to pack them in a suicase. WE put 2 in a large suitcase and checked them to get them home. It was so much easier!

Now I don't want to start a fight or nothing (and I'm not agreeing with the law either way), but in Florida a 6 year old doesn't have to have a carseat at all. Just another thought.....:confused3

We just checked my DD's. I knew it would either get lost, dirty, broken, etc if we let it roam free on it's own, so we stuffed it in the remaining space left in the duffle.

We managed to pack ds's as well - his comes apart, so it makes it easier to pack.

DD will be flying with her carseat, so that takes care of that.

We just bring it on the plane and put it in the overhead. Rental car companies charge a lot to rent them.

Of course, now they will charge you an arm and a leg to check a second bag!
