Here's the deal:

I have Tiffany booked for our car service for our trip, airport to resort and back again. We will be taking youngest ds (1-yr old) carseat to use on the plane and in the car, but I didn't plan to take the booster for 3-1/2 yo. When I booked TT, I requested a booster seat, no problem. But, my question is about FL law and what is required. His seat is booster 5-pt harnessed to 40 lb, then a belt-positioned booster. Is that what they will provide? I'm sure they deal with this regularly, but I don't want to get there and have the driver tell us they have only a seatbelt-used booster and my DS is too small to use it (weighs about 37 lb right now) and we're stuck. Ohio law requires him to still be in a harnessed seat, and I'm not comfortable with him riding only with a seatbelt. But, I don't want to have to haul the thing to FL either. I called this morning, and a man answered and he was friendly, but I could hear several phones ringing and it sounded like he was rushed to get off the phone with me, he put me on hold to answer another phone (which I don't mind, I used to work in a job that I had to do this at busy times), and he said that any child over 25 lb was fine in their boosters--this makes me think it's one similar to what we have.

Does anyone know what kind of booster they provide?

Thanks, Steph

I will bump this post to keep it on first page, someone will be able to help you I'm sure.

When we used TTC last year they had a booster for my 4 year old. It was the type of booster where the seatbelt goes in front to hold the "lap bar" tight. It was the same type we used at home so it was fine with us.

TTC provides a true "booster seat" ours was a low backed seat from Cosco and it was brand new. This was fine as my dd was 5 at the time.

What you describe and are using at home is a carseat that can be converted into a booster seat by removing the harness. While you and I know the differece most people don't and when you say booster they think "belt positioning, no harness".

IIRC Florida law requires a child to be in a carseat through age three, 4&5yo's only need a seatbelt to be legal.

If you want a carseat you may want to call and request that rather than a booster seat.

Thank you TJ, I think I will call and request an actual carseat. He may protest, since you know the type he rides in, and his "baby" brother rides in a regular carseat, which he associates with being a baby, but he won't be getting a choice.

Thanks again
