We are taking the carseat for my DS who is 2 and will be using it on the plane and in the rental car, but we are unsure about the booster seat for DD. She is 6, 47-48 inches tall and about 48 pounds. In Ohio she has to be in a booster seat, but I'm not sure about Florida. The one she is in now is the kind with just a bottom piece. She was too tall and really uncomfortable in the ones with the back on them, so we used this instead. Personally, I'd rather have her in it for the little bit of added safety. But DH is being anal about how much we have to take to the airport. So far we have 2 big suitcases to check, 2 duffle bags to check, a backpack and another duffle bag to carry on, two kids, a stroller (to gate check), the carseat, and possibly this booster seat!

Help!!!

Legally in Florida she doesn't have to have it....but you're right, she will be much safer with it. Personally the price (inconvenience) of bringing it vs. the risk of something bad happening...I'd bring it. but that is me. Sometimes kids are just inconvenient, aren't they? :goodvibes

If you need help convincing your dh, do a search on "seatbelt syndrome" and maybe that will convince him. :) hth.

What is the Florida Law concerning children and car seat requirements?
This is from the Florida Highway Patrol web site:

Florida Statutes 316.613 Child restraint requirements.--(1)(a) Every operator of a motor vehicle as defined herein, while transporting a child in a motor vehicle operated on the roadways, streets, or highways of this state, shall, if the child is 5 years of age or younger, provide for protection of the child by properly using a crash-tested, federally approved child restraint device.

For children aged through 3 years, such restraint device must be a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child seat.

For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child seat, or a seat belt may be used.
Hope this helped.
