Booster Seat in Taxi

I posted this previously and somehow it's gotten buried without an answewr.

We are getting a free booster seat from our Towncar company for the ride from airport to resort.

However - we'll be making a day-trip to US during the middle of our stay and will most likely just get a taxi. I'm wondering what the law is or the chances of a booster in a taxi/van for my 4 yo grandson.

I thought I had everything covered and this just dawned on me. Thanks for any help/input.

We thought about getting a towncar for this - but thought a taxi might cost about the same and give us more leaway in when we return.

I would say slim to none. I don't use Taxis in Orlando, but in all the cities I have used taxis in, I have never seen a booster seat in the trunk or car.

IIRC, taxis are exempt from the Florida state law requiring child safety seats. Doubt anyof the taxi services provide them. You'll have to bring your own or rent one if you want your child to ride in one.

Thanks. He's 40" tall and rides with booster at home in the back. Wasn't bringing one - because his apparently doesn't meet airline standards - plus our towncar/van is providing one for free, so didn't think about needing one.

I am very saftey conscience, ALWAYS wear our seatbelts, but just thought about this one. I don't think his mom will have a probem with buckling him without the booster - but wanted to make sure we were following the Florida laws.

Cars for hire are exempt from laws.

We use a seat belt adjuster for our kids in taxis. It isn't as safe as a booster seat, but provides some additional safety and is easier to haul around.

It's not just your grandson's booster that can't go in a airplane seat; no booster can. Boosters require the use of the seat belt with a shoulder strap in addition to the lap belt, and no airline has that. Even if you were taking a booster with you, you still would stand a good chance of being in a taxi where it couldn't be used, for this same reason. Tough to explain to kids why taxis, buses, and the like are exempt!
