Boooooo Weekdays...

Fair enough. As a DLR vet, if I were to go to WDW, I would spend a lot of time asking questions about the various differences between WDW and DLR.

If you ever do please feel free to pick my brain!

You offered I am taking advantage of "picking your brain" Have you ever stayed in a Savannah view room at AK? Are the animals really as close at it seems when they show it on travel shows on TV. We are considering this for 2013 (just too much going on at DLR the next two years to miss going there)

I can give you a different yet related opinion. We stayed in a pool view room at AKL this past summer for a couple nights. Now I told myself that if we were to stay at AKL, we would have to be in a Savannah room. Now granted we were only there for a short period of time and we didn't get spend a lot of time in our room....but we loved the feel of the resort even though we weren't in a "savannah view" room. There are still multiple places where any guests (or visiting non-guest) can look out and see tons of animals on the savannahs. It's probably not the same as opening your blinds and sitting outside to watch giraffes, but there are definitely opportunities for prime animal viewing without staying in a savannah view room, if the budget needs a little bit of a squeeze. :thumbsup2

Yes, I have. The animals are not within petting distance by any means but they are close. During our first stay we had a Value Studio Villa in Jambo House, facing the Kudo Trail. We saw giraffes stroll by, something that looked like a gnu, two other smaller animals. Sometimes you'd look outside and they'd be there, sometimes there'd be nothing but trees. That just goes to show you how big the expanse is. Our next visit was in a standard Studio Villa (on rented DVC points), and faced the Sunset Trail. This area seemed to have more animals about more frequently...at least one every time I looked out the balcony.

I do recommend looking into renting DVC points as it was more economical for me than renting a regular room through Disney. If you're not comfortable renting from a stranger you can use http://www.dvcrequest.com/default.asp,

Anything else I can help you with ...please don't hesitate to ask.
