Books for Mexican Riviera cruises?

Does anyone know of any good books to read in preparation of the California-Mexican Riviera cruises?

I've seen the Panama Canal by Cruise Ship: The Complete Guide to Cruising the Panama Canal - Includes Mexican Riviera mentioned before but does that book go into a lot of detail about the Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas ports for those California cruisers who won't be on the repo cruises?

If you have any suggestions, please post.

Thanks!

I'm interested in web sites or reviews from people who have cruised this area on other cruise lines.

What did you enjoy seeing?

What types of excursions were offered?

I just got the Frommer's Caribbean (covers panama canal and mexican riviera also).

Perfect compliment to the cruising the panama canal book.

We recently returned from a Princess Mexican Riviera cruise and enjoyed it very much. I tried researching the ports using Fodors and Frommers books but I found they were geared more to the land vacation travellers.

I found more and better quality information on the web. I suggest you try visiting the folowing sites to get a handle on all the fun you can have.

Start with Cruise Critic , specifically their Mexican Riveria section of their Ports of Call site. Lots of great information on what to do, where to go, and how much it will cost.

I also went to epinions.com , where I found many good reviews of the ports. I found this one, http://www.epinions.com/content_2609356932 , espcially helpful in deciding what I was interested in doing.

There are also good sites that are specific to each port:
http://www.puertovallarta.net/
http://www.mazinfo.com/
http://www.visitcabo.com/

I also found that trip reports posted by others to be great references also:

Using resort facilities in Mazatlan

And there is also good information on what to do on some of the third party shore excursion sites:

http://dolphin-adventure.com/dolphins-information/
http://www.vallarta-adventures.com/index.html
http://www.mazinfo.com/horsebackride/

Wow - that's a lot of links I saved but it really helped me in planning what we wanted to do in each port. BTW - we enjoyed our stay in Mazatlan the most. We opted to visit the El Cid Resort , which was offering free use of their facilities if you take a 45 minute timeshare tour.

I found the tour interesting and I only had to say "No, thank you" twice. Very low pressure compared to some others I've been on. El Cid has a great pool, is right on the beach, and the tour grants you a bracelet for free food and drink (beer and alcohol INCLUDED!). Free shuttle to the resort but $4/person cab ride back to the ship.
