What were the books that your babies enjoyed most? My kids loved Goodnight Moon.

I need to buy a baby present and I was wondering what the favourites are out there right now. My favourites are kind of out of date.

We didn't get into Goodnight Moon. I didn't see the appeal in it.

We liked "I Love You This Much" and about any other board book I could find.

The books with flaps that opened lasted only about two or three readings. The kid would end up ripping off the flaps when they were babies.

Have fun shopping.

Jamberry! It's Paul's all time favorite and I love it too!

My DD (now 18 months) just loves the "Touch and Feel" books--they're by the same people who do the Eyewitness books for older kids, and I know Barnes & Noble sells a 3 book set that I love to give new parents. They're fairly sturdy, with simple themes, but even older children love them. In fact, when I took the baby to visit her sister's 3rd grade class, the kids all had to see the book (heck with the baby!).

There are also several Seuss board books (always popular). For a couple years down the road, I recommenfd the Little Critter stories, which are simple with a "moral", sort of.

As tiny babies (2-3 months) my kids loved Ooh, Ooh, Moo . It has black and white animals that they focus on. They loved it!

As they grew (6 months and up) they loved Pat the Bunny , Goodnoght Moon , The Very Hungry Caterpillar , and also the Sandra Boynton Books, especially Barnyard Dance .

Clack, Clack, Moo is very funny for preschoolers/Kindergarteners.

Oh! Another favorite...Mr. Brown can Moo, Can You?

Any book by Sandra Boynton--especially "But Not the Hippopotamus". I have read it so many times, I have it memorized.

Goodnight moon is a timeless classic. DD14months loves it. But her favorite is Guess How Much I Love You and the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Both books make her laugh the second I read the first words. Of course, I know them both by heart!

Holly's fav is the taggie book, all the others were chew toys to her.

I know what you mean about knowing the stories by heart. We have tons of kid books (Border's has a discount card LOL) and they are so short I remember almost all of them.
