I hope I'm posting this in the right place, if not, my apologies.

My question is, what book would be the ultimate guide to learn about Walt Disney and how he aquired the fianances to create both Disney Parks, purchase the land, and also came about all his creations?

I've seen many books on different sites, but would like opinions from people on the Board who may have read different ones to what might fit best what I have described.

Also, is there any books that may be specifically purchased in WDW about WD, that are not available anywhere else and if so, what would the title be?

while I am not sure if its the ultimate guide, I have been reading wonderful reviews on the new Neil Gabler book about Walt Disney. I just ordered it yesterday for DSs birthday because it was on his list. Its suppose to be a more honest look at his life. You can get it at most major book stores. I ordered his from the book of the month club.

You can see why I'm trying to get opinions. Take a look. Enough choices ?!

Go to your local bookstore "Barnes and Nobel" or "Book A Million" they will have tons all dedicated to Walt Disney World. I love going there and reading them myself - even though I been there so many times.

Walt Disney - The Man Behind the Myth. The First 100 years. I've got both and they are great books. You can also buy the DVD for Man Behind the Myth.

Imagineering is also a great book, Its more about the parks and rides, but still good, I bought it 5 years ago, and still bring it out every now and then.

See if you can't get a hold of Married to the Mouse. Kinda expensive to buy, so check your library and interlibrary loans. Really interesting book about the creation of WDW in Florida, and all the connections between politics, planning, land purchases, etc. Doesn't always paint Walt in the best light however.

For the darker side, read the Mouse Betrayed.

I'm about 1/4 of the way into this book and am loving it - VERY detailed. I'm only up to 1929 but so far Gabler has accounted for almost every nickel Walt spent.

Neal Gabler's Walt Disney bio is EXCELLENT. Very well-written, well-researched, and detailed. One of the best biographies I have ever read.
