Hi, we're new members just waiting our final closing paperwork for our VB
contract. I have a question though about booking. Can I make a reservation at 11 months out at our home resort when at the time of the reservation I have no points ? At the time of the stay, I would have that year's points.
Is this considered borrowing ?

no- that is not borrowing, they will have no problem making the reservation for you.

Each contract is based on a use year which simply means this is the month that you receive your new year's points. So for example, if you currently have zero points and your use year begins in September and you want to make a reservation for December you would have your September points available to make the December reservation. This doesn't involve borrowing, simply using your allotted points.

Borrowing occurs when you don't have enough points to make or complete a reservation using your available points. So if you have zero points today and your use year begins in September but you want to make a reservation for July, you would need to borrow the points from your next use year (in this case September's points) to make or complete your July reservation.

You can always make home resort reservations 11 months in advance regardless of when your use year begins by accessing the points that will be available at the time of the reservation. You may also borrow points from your next use year to make or complete a home resort reservation at 11 months.

The thing to remember is all points use is based on date of stay, not date of reservation. You look at the use year that the date of stay is in.

Just to clarify, you must have closed on your contract and your points must be in Disney's system before you can make any reservation.
P.S. Welcome Home!
