Booking with a TA?

I'm not sure where this question belongs....

If I book through a TA (not sure that I will) can I still call and make changes and ADR through Disney myself, or does it all have to go through TA?

I do enjoy planning this myself, but I am also planning a friends wedding for her at the same time. I would love to have a take care of some of the planning and checking for specials, but taking care of some of the ADR's etc, is part of the fun!

The TA "owns" the reservation and any changes have to go through the TA.

As far as dining, you will be able to make your own reservations, but the 180+10 does not apply, so you would only be able to reserve dining within 180 days of the dining date and not the arrival date.

I used a TA to book room package and magical express. It's been so easy because I have made a few changes, (added an extra day, changed flight time for Magical Express) and she has taken care of that. ALL do is send an email and it's taken care of :)

But I have booked all my ADRS. I wanted to do that myself because its been so much fun.:cool1:

Good luck!

A question on booking with a TA -- If I book my Nov trip early in the year, and I get a pin code later, can that be applied to my reservation? Or do I need to book the trip myself through the Disney website to use a pin code? I presume that if there is a general discount offer made, I can get that applied to an existing reservation regardless of who made it.

I just as soon go with someone who could make my ADRs for me, as I have enough stress and deadlines in my life already, but not if it means I can't use a pin code.

You cannot use a PIN Code through a TA.

Think about it for a minute. A PIN Code gets you a discounted rate. A TA gets a commission based on what you are paying. Basically this is, as far as Disney is concerned, stacking discounts which they do not allow.

Example with totally made up numbers. Let's say the TA will receive a 10% commission on the room rate. If the room is booked for you at $100 the TA gets $10 and Disney gets $90. If you have a PIN for 20% off, your room is $80 and Disney gets the $80. If they stacked discounts, the room would be $80, the TA would get $8, and Disney would only get $72.

We were able to apply a pin our reservation using a TA, we later switched to Free Dining which was a hassle to do through the TA. The TA has made some ADRs for us and I have been able to make ADRs online as well.

My sister was also able of have the TA apply a 40% pin to her room reservation, no problems.

I would probably not use a TA again because I am enjoying the planning process, however, my sister doesn't want to plan at all and she always uses a TA.

Yes, you can most DEFINITELY use a pincode with a TA. I am a TA myself and have pin codes applied for clients all the time. Do not let a TA tell you that you can't use a pincode. They are just trying to make more money. I'd rather save my clients money and make them happy, thus more apt to rebook their next trip through me. ;)

Incorrect. I am a TA, and are able to apply pincodes for clients all the time. That is not considered stacking discounts. The client is only getting one discount, whether it is a general public discount or a pincode.

I booked my most recent Disney trip through AAA because they saved me about $400. You can use pin codes, but I would have to give up the AAA rate because the pin codes apply to non-discounted packages and/or room rates. Also, changes to the reservation have to be done through the travel agent, but I was able to do all my dining reservations myself. I must say that I love the online dining reservations. I hope that helps you make your decision of how to book!

We used AAA Travel for our last two trips and both times we were able to add Free Dining to the package later. We did lose our AAA room discount, so it comes out to "half price" dining but still a decent deal.

Also, our AAA agent gave me our Disney reservation number so I could make all our dining reservations myself. I don't recall losing my 180+10 - I think I did all my ADR's at 180 days out.

Is this new? Last year when reservatins were at 90+10 my TA was able to book the +10 for me. I've read others who have been able to book the +10 when using a TA since going back to 180 days. When did this change?

Like everybody else, I've been able to have my TA apply a PIN to an existing reservation.

I booked through my TA and was able to book all my dining online at 180+10 no problem.
My TA saved me 1300.00 towards hotel, before I ever saw any discounts. Luckily she got it because by the time I saw it all the discounted rooms were gone!
I use to be a TA....so I have always gone with one I use to work with. :goodvibes
