Thinking about switching my dates for one week and when I go online to Disney only 3 of the 4 nights needed are available and then when I go to expedia, I can get all 4 nights with the room only special that ends today. I've never not booked via Disney but we if we switch by a week we could save up about $500 on room and flight. Just curious.

Curious how hard it was to add reservation to MDE. Didn't realize I sent the post before I put that part in it.

Book it then wait a few days. Googling just now, and looking at the more recent posts about it on various websites, you'll either need to contact Expedia to ask for the 12 digit (starts with a 4, generally) Disney confirmation number, OR look at your booking on Expedia and a few days later that number should show up there. Once you get that number, enter it into MDE and that will link it all up, triggering the ability to customize MBs and make FP+s when it's time.

if you book through expedia can you still do the dining plan and MYW ticket options or is that only through Disney?

The online TAs don't tend to sell packages, so you can't do the dining plan. Some of them do sell tickets, or you can buy tickets from Disney, or Undercovertourist.com, or various other sellers.

Sounds like Expedia has more days to book in this case. They are given a certain number of rooms that they are allowed to offer. Go with Expedia and save the money. I also book Expedia and never have a problem. Give it a couple days after booking and then call into Expedia to get the "Disney" reservation number. Sometimes the rep doesn't know the difference because they are not familiar with MDE. They sometimes have to call the resort to get the number. I haven't had any problem linking my reservation on MDE when I purchase through expedia.

I recently booked thru Expedia, also because Disney showed no availabilty. I had to call about how to do the payment and actually got great service. The itinerary for part of my trip came with the Disney Confirmation # and I had to call to get it on the other part of the stay. No problem linking to MDE, and I saved about $40 bundling air/hotel... and got the non-stop flights I like.

No for dining plan but your $500 savings seems more than worthwhile to pay out of pocket for meals :) way to go finding a great deal! Also no luggage tags or coupon book so if you wanna play mini golf, you're on your own ;)

I recently booked through the Expedia App and saved about 25%. I had to call Expedia to contact disney for the Disney confirmation number and also went online myself to book magical express. It was worth the hour or so for me. Once I received the Disney Conf number everything linked up easy peasy! I cancelled my other reservation after linking the new one to make sure my FP+ were not cancelled (within 60 day window). No dining plan or tickets with Expedia though.
