Hi:

Please don't yell at me if this is not right, but I want to come to WDW in June. I am torn between staying at Tree Top or staying at one of the other villas. It will be my parent's first time at WDW and I was thinking they would like Wilderness Lodge best. My dilemma comes in that I can book Tree Top now since SSR is my home resort, but if I wait until the 7 month window I may get neither. So, can i book the Tree Tops now and then cancel at 7 month window if I get into Wilderness Lodge? Will this work if I have to borrow from my 2010 points?

Thanks for your help on this one. If this is a no no just let me know! I do not want to offend anyone.

The SSR treehouses are less points than VWL 2br so you should not end up with any straggler borrowed points, so you should be OK.

Relax and have fun.

If you have not already booked Treehouse Villas you might not get one of those either since there are only around 60 of them and they go fast; I called on my 11 month mark and got the last one for our visit next May.

If you want to go next June, I would call now and book at your home resort and then call at the 7th month mark and change to VWL or at least, waitlist VWL.

We did this for our upcoming trip. Booked Treehouse at 11 months and then moved to AKV.

There are 60 Treehouse Villas, but only 30 have been declared for the DVC members to book using points. If you harbor any hopes of getting a Treehouse Villa for June, I strongly recommend that to book it as soon as possible.

You are completely within the rules of the game to book a villa at your home resort at the 11-month window, and then switch to a different resort at the 7-month window. Members do this because it guarantees that they have accommodations at their home resort for a specific time, but they really want to stay at another non-home resort, which they can't book until the 7-month window.

Good luck on making your reservations!

I do this ALL the time. My inlaws bought the first year DVC was open, and they bought A LOT of points. We like to stay at BCV though, so we always book at OKW (which was the only available resort at the time) and then call at the 7 month point. We sometimes get wait listed, but it has ALWAYS come through (knock on wood!) Good Luck!
