Booking time between LL and ILL

I have used Maxpass and I think I understand the major differences with the new Genie+
-With Genie+ you must now wait 2 hours or check in on current LL to book another.
-You can only book a specific LL or ILL ride once per day.
-You are limited to 2 ILL bookings per day.
-If you cancel an LL booking you can rebook another time but if your window expires without riding you cannot rebook that ride.
My question is if you must wait the 2 hours between booking an ILL and LL and visa versa? If I a have park hopper and buy ILL from California Adventure at 8:00 for RotR to ride at 1:00, do I need to then wait until 10:00 before I can book Toy Story or Guardians? If I book a LL in California Adventure do I need to wait 2 hours to book RotR in Disneyland even though it would be in another park and after 1:00?

I'm curious as well. At WDW you have to be in the park to book a LL for that park. Not sure if that's how it works at DLR.

They have nothing to do with one another.

At WDW you do not have to be in the park to book a lightning lane or for a paid one. I booked them from my resort. Might be different for off-site guests there.
Just got back three weeks ago - For WDW you can book one (onsite only) at 7am for the park you have a reservation for that morning. After that it's every two hours or when you use your last LL that you have (since they can stack when you get later times). In order to book other LL you need to be in the park to do so. So if you park hop like we did mid day (2pm is the start for WDW) you have to wait to get into that park to select it. (Can't remember if that was true for ILL also - I can ask my sister as she was the appointed genie person.)

It's different at DLR as you have to be scanned in to the park before you can make your first selection. I have read it both ways that you can book or not book from a different park at DLR. I'm hoping that we can as hopping is so different at DLR.

I went to WDW over Easter too and I was standing on the Boardwalk at 7:19 am and booked my ILL for Rise of the Resistance (a park I would hop to later) and a Ratatouille ILL. If someone is offsite at WDW they have to wait until the park officially opens to do a ILL. None of the times I booked my first lightning lane of the day was I scanned into the park yet either, nor was it open yet.

You can book A single one at 7am. For the rest of the day you will not be able to.

This is a DL forum. You have to be scanned into the park to start booking. Booking an ILL$ is completely disconnected from booking LL. They don’t interact with each other at all. Remember you can book an ILL$ without having G+.
If you have a reservation for DL for example, can you get LL for later in the afternoon (after 1) inside DCA? Or do we need to wait until we have actually park hopped (eg scanned in) to get that LL?

As I said above—

You can book a LL for the other park at DLR. If you’re booking in the morning, the system will automatically update so that the LL is 1:00 or after due to hopping restriction. We booked LLs for Soarin and TSMM at DCA while we were in DL park.

We booked our DCA slots for the afternoon in the morning, before we were able to hop to DCA.

Same -- booking LLs for the other park first thing in the morning after getting Genie+ was the best use of it for us. The crowds were low enough at park opening that the standby waits were minimal and the return times were almost instant, so it was no big deal to wait 2 hours before getting a Matterhorn or Space Mountain LL in order to have a guaranteed 1pm Guardians LL waiting for us.

Thank you that's a helpful tip. Looking at G+ return times, unlike WDW, the times don't tick up as quick in the morning. We like to stack early in the morning for the afternoon when lines are longest so I'm gonna be implementing this strat. ❤️

ILL is independent of LL. For ILL you can book up to 2 per day. For ILL and LL at Disneyland you have to have entered your stating park for the day before booking. ILLs do not have a time restriction between bookings just the max of 2 per day, LLs you have a 2 hour waiting period or redemption of your LL whichever is the earlier time. At WDW you can book at 7am as an on site guest you can book ILLs, for everyone else it’s when the park opens. All guests can sharing booking LLs at 7am. The caps and waiting restrictions are the same on both coasts.

Not to get too off-topic, but you can book LL at WDW for a park you are hopping to, even if you haven't hopped yet. You just won't be shown a time before 2:00 pm. And you can book an ILL for any park at 7:00 am as an onsite guest (even two in different parks), but you can't book a particular attraction before 2:00 if you don't have a reservation for that park that day. For example, we booked Flight of Passage for morning and Rise for evening on a day we started at AK - both were booked at 7 am. We would not have been able to book Rise for morning since our reservation was for AK.

At WDW, everyone can book LL at 7:00. Only onsite guests and guests of some other select hotels can book ILL at 7:00.

Yup. I did this on my trip this past week since I hopped on both days I paid for genie+. I started grabbing late afternoon dhs LLs at 11am once I was done with my MK ones since they weren’t needed at epcot due to lower crowds/low wait times for everything I wanted to ride in future world.

At WDW if you’re park hopping, you can book 2 LLI$ (one per park until Aug 7), but without hoppers you can only book 1. Is that the case at DL as well?
