Booking through Disney or a TA?

Well isn't "Susan" Kaballa for "Sandra"? :teeth:

Yes - I totally agreed with what you posted. Well said Sandra. :)

Hello,

We don't have any disney experts in this area, unfortunately. The last 2 years Visa has put out an at par for Canadians and for some reason I thought I remembered it being around the end of Oct. early November for travel in Jan-May. My TA said I could book our next year disney trip any time I wanted and I thought maybe around the fall to see if the at par did come out again. My TA thought that with the new MYW tickets we would likely never see another deal come out again, she was willing to bet money on that one and she said if I book something and they did happen to come out with that offer, I could NOT change what I have once I have started paying on it. I thought you could change things through disney at any time really? This is why I posted this thread, just to get different ideas on how others book trips.
Thanks for all the info.

First of all - you really don't need a Disney Specialist in your *area*. Today's day in age of emailing and the like, it really doesn't matter where your TA is located. I have personally booked for clients who are all over the US (Florida included!) and never had reason to 'meet' a client face to face.

Secondly - I would be shocked if the Canadian at Par does come out again, due to the popularity of the new MYW. Furthermore, depending what the dollar is at - the at par package won't compare anyhow.

I had a client who just returned this week who originally booked last October with the at par. Once the MYW came out, she switched packages because it turned out to be cheaper! Keep in mind, that plus dining option is REALLY something to consider if you want to do a lot of character meals.

she said if I book something and they did happen to come out with that offer, I could NOT change what I have once I have started paying on it.

I have no idea what she's talking about. You can change a package with Disney at anytime outside of 45 days with no penalty. Furthermore, if you are changing to a different Disney package within those 45 days, chances are they will wave the $100 penalty charge.

But again, I would say that not only will the at par not come out, but even if it did - the MYW would still come out cheaper.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks very much, that really does help alot!

I just used to surf this board because I didn't know very much about WDW and just today registered so I can make this post and probably others...

I recently took up the services of Dream Come True Vacations after seeing a post here that said they took in a Canadian agent to target our market becasue I was thinking about going the on-line agency route, but I was looking to see who was high on the recommendation lists.

I have gotten nothing but outstanding service from her for my up-coming trip to WDW. She explained pretty much the same about the At Par discount... or lack there of this year (HAHAHAHAHA), but told me the CAA could get me the same discount as AAA and that I didn't know. I wasn't a faithful reader of this board, I admit, but I'm sure that has been talked about here before.

I know a lot of people tend to promote their agency of choice - so I really want to say that I promote Dream Come True Vacations and if you're Canadian, you can be confident that there is a fellow Canuck there to assist you and can feel you pain about our sliding downwards dollar!

I was worried at first because they are not TICO, but they have a kind of US equivalent to that - CLIA, so I felt safe about booking with them.

Actually, none of the TA's "named" agencies, we just wanted to keep business in Canada...that was our point. Not to promote ourselves, but to promote the travel business in general for Canada and to show there are Disney Specialists up here too. :)

Actually, Polynesianfan... the point of this thread originally was "Booking through Disney or a TA" It seems you tongue lashed KateKAteKate for no reason AND she pointed out that she used the Canadian agent, a Canadian Disney Specialist from seeing a posting on in this thread that I wrote.

If you look at the first page, DU was promoted by someone who saved a bundle using them!

You quite promoted yourself as a Disney specialist and work from home TA who books PS's and creates itineraries and applies discounts and now you may profit from someone seeing your post and PM'ing you - you don't need to name names for promotion... you did that without even saying who you worked for.

Good point tone.def about the subject of the thread. You obviously didn't see my" :) " at the end of my statement. I thought this was a forum that you could express opinions in...I didn't realize my "tone" was taken the wrong way, tone.def.
I apologize to Katiekatekate for seeming as though I was unfriendly on her 1st posting, that was not my intention. :)
