I received a quote from a TA and also from AAA. The AAA quote was better by almost $350. My question is this...the TA would do things like make reservations for us and check into discounts along the way, does AAA do the same? I could ask them but I would like an honest answer from someone that has booked and traveled with AAA before.

Thanks:surfweb: :scared1:

The TA at AAA will do anything that you ask them to do-make ressies, that sort of thing. I will call mine from time to time if I see a deal online & want her to check it or try to beat it. She did get us a $25 gift cert. to Disney without any questions. That will pay for a boat rental or something. I find that doing some of the work doesn't hurt. AAA has been the best deal for us the last 2 years. Do the AAA TA's check into new discounts for you-my experience is if I called her to check which deal was better. There haven't been too many discounts during our travel time of May. There was a free water park & more option, but the AAA discount still came out cheaper.

does anyone know if i can use any AAA Travel Agent? The one in Chicago sucks and I'm from NC, so I thought I'd try them and no one's getting back to me.

You got the one AAA TA out of a thousand who even tires.

My thoughts are that with your AVERAGE AAA TA assume they will do nothing, check everything VERY carefully. I have been reading these boards for years and I have heard more AAA horror stories then I can count.

There are some good AAA agents out there and you don't have to use your local one. Hopefully someone will PM you the name of one of the good ones.

I have had nothing but the best of luck booking my vacations through AAA! No matter where they were for. I'll tell you how good our girl was, she is now a trainer for all new agents in the area!

Hi! I am a terrible time with my AAA TA. Do you have one that you would recommend? Thanks so much!

I've booked two Disney trips with the Minnesota/Iowa branch in Burnsville, MN and both agents were fantastic! They spent a lot of time making sure we had the best deal possible and making sure we got everything we wanted for our trips.

My travel agent at my local AAA is awesome. We ask her to do so much, and she is always pleasant. She is so nice and sweet and she WILL find the best deal for you. We have been using her for the last 5 years. She will always beat another's offer like when we wanted to book a Holland America cruise, since she couldn't get a better rate on the stateroom since it was already super low, she got us shipboard credits of $100.00 each for booking it through AAA instead of HAL.
At WDW 2 years ago, my mom was traveling with us, we were staying at All Star Movies with the free dining plan, she got us an extra room for free for 9 nights for our mom who was supposed to be in our room, but since she has an ECV and needed a handicap room, they gave her that free adjoining room!!!
Her name is Nancy O'Neil and she is at the Asheville, N.C. office.
Also, the last 2 years she has called me the moment the free dining has come out. She's the best!:wizard:

Is there any reason you would book through a AAA TA rather than a WDW Travel Agent? I thought the WDW TA can apply the AAA discount as well.

Well, my TA told me all the AAA rooms were gone and that I would have to book through AAA and it would be for the room only.
Well I then received a quote from AAA for rooms and tix and it was much better. I really like this TA but I have to go for the cheaper package. I wonder if I let the TA know how much I was quoted by AAA would she match that price???

AAA can apply the discount to the whole package. WDW can only apply it to your room I beleive.
I got a better deal with AAA too. I foundthe local one didn't really give me one and someone PM'd me with a name here and she was excellent as well. We weren't even AAA members yet and it was cheaper with AAA plus buying the membership.

Could you please PM me with the name/number of the AAA Travel Agent? I'm not a member, but would join if it would save $$$. What if Free Dining is offered when I'm going...would I have joined AAA for nothing because I would pay Rack Room rates??

If you go through AAA, they aren't generally going to look for discounts for you. Do that yourself, and you can call them when deals might come out. I think only Disney specialized TA's do that (look for discounts), you might even want to hold the discount the morning it comes out (if they do) in case the TA can't get to it quickly.

A little OT... AAA offers discounts on other things as well. We get 10% off all car service from our local garage. The savings on oil changes alone pays the member fee for us. THey also have discounts at a ton of online retailers, resteraunts, and non WDW hotels. THen there is the free towing. FOr us that is why we joined in the first place. We have 2 cars and both are pushing 80.000 miles. Gotta love that towing!

I don't know that I woudl join just to get a WDW discount, but there are many other thing that will make it worth the money if you take advantage of them.

Hi everyone!!! First time visitor here!!! We are currently booked at Movies for the first week of July through AAA (cheaper then going directly through Disney) but not real confident that our agent will keep looking for discounts. Is it OK to switch agents or is it too late? If not too late any recommendations f/new agent? THANKS!
