Booking spa services & BBB on embarkation day

We will be on the Disney Magic in December. I was hoping to book a pedicure on the first afternoon on board. The only option to pre-book is the Fire & Ice Pedicure which is sold out. Does the spa have more openings once you board? We will probably board around 1:30.
Also was hoping to book the Pirate pkg for DS on pirate day, but the only times are early in the morning and up until lunch. We will be off the ship until 3 pm, so I was hoping for a later time.
Any tips? Should I run to the spa/bbb as soon as I board? Or is it really a waste of time?

There will be more spots available on board, but I would suggest that perhaps you look at getting a mani/pedi at home where the costs are a little lower, and pamper yourself with a facial or massage, which is a little different while onboard. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great time!
