I am in the processes of buying a DVC resale. Question. I should close in October. I want to book a 2BR (Starting 1/14 for 9 nights) and two studios (Starting 1/16 for 7 nights). That gives me 3 months of lead time.

Those of you who are DVC experts. Will the 3 mo lead time be enough to secure these rooms? Just getting a bit nervous thinking about this today. Of course, we want to stay at BCV or WLV - but any of the resorts will do!!!

Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the DIS!

The problem with your timeframe is that it incorporates the Martin Luther King holiday week, which is typically busy with schools out, etc. Also, seeking a reservation for the length of 9 consecutive nights, and also 7 consecutive nights may be more difficult in a short time frame.

DVC will typically require booking these types of vacations further in advance. Many will book 11 months ahead to secure this type of reservation around a holiday timeframe.

If you are flexible, you may obtain some availability, but may find you will need to split your stay among villa types, or even different resorts.

One advantage to purchasing through DVC is that they can often secure a one time ressie for you as condition upon purchase. Buying resale, you will not have this benefit. Hopefully, you will be able to secure something, perhaps not your first choice but maybe something that will at least get you down there for that particular time..good luck! :)
